I was already avoiding Starbucks because of their union busting and refusal to negotiate a contract, but this new AI crap they’re doing to “customize” menus is a triple hell nah. Making my own lattes already had its benefits but I didn’t expect it to become an act of solidarity and resistance

Calgary vs Edmonton! Will the goalie minding the net in an unconscious flow state be able to stop McDavid, Draisaitl, and Bouchard? I don’t have a horse in the race but am hoping for an entertaining game.

Got stabbed! Yay! With the latest Covid and flu shots, that is. If ye are in Ontario, you can book both for free at your pharmacy now or just walk in! Booking online is easy. Please get your shots to protect yourself and the peeps around you!

So there’s this goalie for the Flames named Cooley and his post-game interviews are gold because he has a personality. He READS WITH HIS RABBIT. The bunny’s name is Tito. The goalie’s name is Cooley. Search for his interviews. He avoids cliches and you never know what he’s gonna say.

*Trying to remember the book* Some human dudes go to either Europa or Enceladus to explore the ocean underneath the ice to see if there’s life and WHOA DANG The book is narrated by that ocean life that sees a human swimming around and thinks WHAT AN ODD FISH and so they CUT THEM OPEN FOR SCIENCE

Someone enjoyed my stuff so much that they bought one of everything and then got refunds Cool cool cool If someone makes a mistake and gets a refund on one title, hey, it happens But wow, buying it all—separate transactions!—& getting refunds on each? Feels like theft At least I have coffee

After the bookstore we went to a PAPER STORE in Ottawa called A Love Letter, and yeah, I loved it. Sustainable papers! Cute stuff! See alt text for descriptions of the goodies. Kimberly and I geeked out and made lots of high-pitched squealing noises, which may have slightly alarmed the clerk.

The entrance to A Love Letter, which is in an ancient brick house. The sign promises recycled and next generation beautiful paper thingsA list pad of Coffee Notes, which is made of 40% recycled coffee cups, 15% organic kiwi residue, and 45% FSC fibre. Also a cool octopus card, a linocut by Carolyn Howse, on 100% recycled paper, and a cute letter set from Orchard Sunday featuring three trees for the paper and 100% recycled envelopes. There is also a black Kaweco Sport fountain pen. A wall of note cards and above it, painted on the wall, we see the words: a love letter to the trees, the beautiful, majestic forests that we depend upon and must protect

The new Polyphia album is unlistenable for me. They have decided they want distortion, crunch, & noise in their songs, which, you know, good for them & whatever artistic vision they have, I guess. But I can’t stand even a single track. I have a sad. However! I Built the Sky is verra good stuff

Got a couple of fancy-schmancy things for my espresso machine and am kind of offended at how much better it is I didn’t expect things to *work as advertised* Thought that whole idea had diminished, like Galadriel, and gone into the west Ready for tomorrow’s coffee, I am

Yeesh. Senators wins have all been with Ullmark. Losses? All with Ersson. Against teams that are not known for winning! So I’m not saying he isn’t very good, but the evidence is…puissant

HECK. YES. Voting early (if you can) is the best. Incredibly difficult for the fash to contest, plus you avoid the election day madness. And shoutout to Colorado for running their elections like this—very clear for “overseas” voters like myself. Hope you can vote early where you are!

Hello KEVIN HEARNE,
