I train and fix up progressive voices for UK TV and radio. Broadcast media nerd. Into politics, climate & energy, social justice issues, #lgbtqia, disco history, trouble making, media stuff, he/him

My column on how capital becomes a death cult. Faced with a choice between profit and human life, the radical right chooses profit. Then it tries to persuade us that mass death is what we want. It's the new phase of climate denial: accept your fate, earthlings. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Murderous heat, an endangered food supply, decimated landscapes: embrace the Mediterranean life | George Monbiot

As climate disaster stares us in the face, the radical right says ‘Embrace the Mediterranean life’. Embrace death, more like it, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

57% of Labour voters, 53% of Conservative voters and even 45% of Reform voters say heatwaves make them more fearful for the future. The Telegraph is widely out of step with the UK public and cementing its reputation as the UK media equivalent of the 'odd, ranty uncle' at Christmas dinner.

As we come to the end of the latest burst of warm weather what do Britons think about heatwaves? Asked at the end of the June heatwaves and climate, people's unsurprising top reaction was 'Hot' but that was followed by unbeatable, uncomfortable, worried, concerned and exhausted

I’m not sure exactly when it happened but at some point political reporting ceased to be about covering politicians and their ideas and turned into a sort of daily horoscope on what ‘the markets’ think about absolutely every single political decision

Reform have now lost six by-elections in a row in England, Scotland and Wales. Their national poll rating is 26% – below Labour in 1983 – and Farage’s approval rating is -37. They’re very far from the voice of the people and need to stop being treated as such.

Farage knew exactly what he was doing yesterday. June hit and the far-right needed an excuse to restart another summer of riots and violence that is becoming regular for the UK. Another grieving family manipulated. Absolutely disgusting.

"Ofcom has quietly opened an investigation six months after the programme aired. In that time, GB News’s social media clips of Trump claiming climate change is a ‘hoax’ have clocked up over a hundred thousand engagements online" www.theguardian.com/media/2026/m...

Ofcom to investigate GB News over second airing of Trump interview

Regulator initially declined to investigate but now says it is looking into repeat broadcast from day after first showing

"Fossil fuel companies should, at the absolute bare minimum, be hit with windfall taxes, and that money should be shared with the most vulnerable in the form of social support for impoverished households." - @ketanjoshi.co www.aljazeera.com/opinions/202...

States should tax windfall oil profits to fund their way out of crisis

A major economic crisis is boosting energy profits. Taxing those can help countries survive and become immune to shocks.
