I don’t think I’m ever going to get the appeal of pivoting to video for podcasts. I’ve been listening to podcasts for 20 years, and never once have I thought, my God, I need to SEE these people! I’m on a walk or doing the dishes, I don’t need video.

This is the letter kids got at the end of Dolly’s Imagination Library. I defy you to read this and not cry.
Can we as a society bring back spiral binding for pretty notebooks and journals? At some point it went out of vogue but nothing else lies flat the way it should.
My print shop job has many perks. The spiral binder is my favorite and by far the most satisfying.

Just had the best storytime with @heidiroo.bsky.social at the El Toro Library in Orange County! Thanks so much to all who attended for bringing the Summerween vibes 🍉🎃💕
Hell yeah Tidal allows you to block AI music now? Take note in case you needed another reason to switch over from Spotify, with its bottom-of-the-barrel artist royalties

Brisket couldn’t wait to get his paws on Lauren Castillo’s School For Woodland Creatures, out this week!
I’m hittin’ the road in support of a book I wrote and another I edited! I would love to see some friendly faces if you’re in the LA area, and it’s a great chance to meet two fabulous illustrators as well: @devinellekurtz.bsky.social and @heidiroo.bsky.social
I got to do an interview about my new picture book and it was so lovely! Check out the full interview + review over here: www.mariacmarshall.com/single-post/...

You know what would be a dream as an editor? A travel budget to visit all my authors across the country and abroad. They are all leading such fascinating lives in such fascinating places
My new picture book is out now! It’s about a tiny seed whose dreams of becoming a pumpkin lead to a Summerween surprise—and the art from Heidi Moreno is just magical! Hand this one to the littlest gardeners and Halloween aficionados 🎃
I was annoyed by who was left out from the NYT’s Greatest Living Songwriter list so now I’m binging notable omissions from the comment section. Jackson Browne, let’s go!
Anyone else still haunted by the dialogue around “best” or “best regards” being rude? I’m still using it for most business emails because it feels like the least worst, practical option, but occasionally I worry everyone I know is quietly offended 🫠
You know what doesn't get its support unceremoniously pulled by a tech company? Fuckin' books, brother

There is nothing like a good, thorough-but-not-over-the-top copyedit to make you feel that the world is still a place of calm, sensible people doing good work
Any time a bad thing happens today it’s like “that sucks, but at least we’re not in a nuclear war.” 🙃
Ever wonder if a career in publishing might be for you? 😂
This judge is so tired 😂
My parents met protesting the Vietnam war, & prior my dad’s death from early onset Lewy body dementia, he attended peace protests every Saturday for over a decade in objection to conflicts in Afghanistan & Iraq. I hate war so fucking much—And I wish there were more people like my dad in the world.
Somehow this ice dancing movie is EXACTLY what I needed right now. Don't even care if it's a ripoff of The Cutting Edge.
Does anyone know if there's simple desktop app to keep a running tally of something? My hope is to press a button that makes a pleasant noise and gives me dopamine rush each time I respond to a submission, keeping track of how many I've reviewed over the year.
