Me: Siri, I'm spending a long weekend this weekend in Vegas. How will the weather be? Siri: Sir, it's time to change your screen name to Roasted Tomato. You'll be baking at 350 F for about 5 days. Bring olive oil.

I've read a bunch of books about the making of one classic movie or another, and they all have one thing in common: Every single one had a director, or producer, or star who was certain the movie would bomb, and they'd never work again, or they'd be fired by the end of the 2nd week of filming.

Finally watched The Offer, the making-of-the-Godfather miniseries, and the number of people sure that the greatest movie of all time was going to be a disaster makes me a lot more sympathetic to how insane with self-destructive hubris this generation of filmmakers ended up going

The first computer I ever owned was a Gateway 3000 386sx, with a 20 MEGABYTE hard drive. And I thought to myself then, "There's no way I'd ever need more than that!" My phone has 12,800 times as much storage, and I struggle to not max it out.

Just got out of Terrance Malik’s adaptation of the Odyssey. It is one of the most visually stunning things over committed to film. Odysseus (Adrian Brody) remains out of frame for the entire film and is only briefly heard in voiceover. Also, there are dinosaurs for some reason.

The post-credits scene of EBENEZER reveals the "what day is it" boy to be Oliver Twist, launching Phase 1 of the Dickensverse.
