I feel sick to my stomach waiting around to see what atrocity Trump has in mind for the people of Iran this evening. It's hard to fathom our other elected leaders aren't able to check him in any meaningful way. It's an indictment not just of voters but of our whole system. We're ruled by a mad king.
Not to disparage the program at all-it is fantastic-but rather encourage engagement. The program is not free--there is some agency in your local area paying for it. When I looked into it a few years ago, the cost was 2.10 per child per month, paid by the "local champion." A bargain, but requires $.

My son was part of the program - this is a copy of the letter that came with his last book, right after his 5th birthday.
