So proud of my son Joseph (callsign "Vector") and all he accomplished this summer as part of Class VI of the Red Tail Cadet Program. Thanks to the many folks who make this program happen. It's pretty amazing.

Civic leaders are again studying ways to reunify St. Louis city and county. Among the ideas: St. Louis reentering the county as its 88th municipality, while leaving the county's other cities and villages in place. (1/x) www.stltoday.com/news/local/g...

Area leaders again look at St. Louis city rejoining the county. 'Very real conversation'

Civic and business leaders have spent more than a year quietly talking about how St. Louis could better partner with St. Louis County.

Years before that, I poked fun at St. Louis County's fragmentation by making "Municipalities: The Game". It's a race against the clock, where you type as many cities and villages as you can remember in 3 minutes. I tried it again just now and only got 39. www.stltoday.com/news/multime... (3/3)

How many St. Louis County municipalities can you name?

St. Louis County is the land of a million municipalities (or thereabouts). How many can you list in three minutes? Try our game.

The ICE arrest that led to the couple's deaths was done without local involvement. Overland mayor Marty A. Little wasn't aware "until I saw some of the news reports." "Seeing the end result here should put everything in perspective as to what this situation is," he told @brianmunoz.bsky.social

Overland mayor says he wasn’t told about ICE operation that led to couple's death in Guatemala

“I think our policing depends on us, and we have accountability. If mistakes are made, then they're dealt with,” said Overland Mayor Marty Little. “Here, I don't feel that's happening.”

A horrifying series of events for this couple from the St. Louis area. As with other recent cases, @brianmunoz.bsky.social's reporting shows us the condition of America's immigration policies, from ICE arrests to deportations, and people who are bearing its consequences with their lives.

"That's the danger here," Little added, characterizing ICE actions in Overland as "guys wearing masks" in unmarked trucks pulling people over. "We were not notified; we didn’t know what was going on. They were in Overland and left without us knowing about it."

In filings with the state, Ameren said it intends to have customers shoulder costs associated with the West Alton plant upfront, through the state’s recent adoption of a policy called “Construction Work in Progress.” www.stltoday.com/news/local/b...

Ameren pitches its third gas power plant in two years, this time in West Alton

Ameren is pitching another natural gas-fired power plant to state regulators, and wants customers to pay for costs of the project before it's in service.

Nowadays when I call 911 from Ferguson there is a delay as they rope in the Ferguson PD thanks to FPD no longer taking calls. About a third of the time I get a hold message from the county switchboard. "Your call is important to us" but not important enough to actually pay enough people to take it.

From today's paper: In 2015, it took police about 12 min. to arrive after someone dialed 911 for a "priority 2" call — such as a domestic incident, a fight, a call for help or a burglar in a building. Last year, the average response time more than doubled to 31 min. www.stltoday.com/news/local/c...

St. Louis police response times have spiked. Cops blame low officer numbers.

Average response times by St. Louis police to lower-priority 911 calls more than doubled as the department reached record-low staffing.
