in mario odyssey there are multiple missions involving npcs terrified of goombas, so you'd think goombas are just some mindless, savage beasts but then you look at the paper mario games and it turns out they're just marginalized members of society toads and bonnetons are just racist as fuck

ive noticed theres a lot of that "dont talk about politics in my escapism" talk in any artform and i think we really need to have a larger conversation about how you cant "escape" from politics if you dont engage with them at all, which is why your art has to instead

In Super Mario Maker 2, failing the matching game in the World Maker will cause Mario's mismatched creation to emerge from the door, making him slowly back away in fear or disgust. Below are all the possible abominations Mario can create.

In the World Maker mode of Super Mario Maker 2, the Match & Win! minigame is directly based on the Spade Panel game from Super Mario Bros. 3. SCREEN Act, which would have required mandatory age-verification for sites (like this) that allow "material harmful to minors" failed to pass out of committee after thousands and thousands of people called their Senators. More work ahead!

The SCREEN Act just failed to pass in the Senate Commerce Committee! 🎉 Enormous thanks to the thousands (!!) of you who told your Senators to vote no! Your voice matters and you should feel good that you made a difference. Obviously, the fight isn't over, but this was an important victory.
