Don't give up on anyone that shares beta information about video games. Cutting Room Floor, Hard4Games, Beta64, The Hidden Palace. They're the reasons why we have this unlocked information that otherwise would go unnoticed. And if you truly care about the retro scene, I think you should support them

Update from Linode... we're still waiting for the attack to subside. There's nothing we can do. We do have all of the files and data backed up, and can migrate if it comes down to it.

Unfortunately, Cloud Firewall wouldn't help in this specific case, since the block is happening further upstream, before traffic even reaches your Linode's own firewall rules.The most reliable path here is letting the automated mitigation run its course, it's specifically designed to lift once the attack traffic settles, and that's the resolution we'd recommend standing by for. We're actively monitoring the situation on our end and will let you know as soon as we see things stabilize.

This is all really stupid This DDoS seems to have been triggered by someone using Claude Code and getting banned from the site for it, intentionally evading that ban to make up a fake story about their LLM wiping their entire OS, and then firing off multiple abuse reports to our host. It may not surprise you that this guy has some interesting thoughts on consent, or that he has multiple blog posts in which he brags about poisoning LLMs to win championships or flooding a social network with spam to give himself 1,000,000 followers. I think some people associate wikis too strongly with the specific policies of wikipedia, and don't realize that actually, wikis like TCRF can and do contain a lot of original research, not just aggregation of trusted sources

Like honestly the most telling thing here is that when faced with the slightest resistance of "stop flooding the site with scraper traffic" their response is to pay someone else to take revenge for them because they don't actually have the technical skill to do anything real on their own

Linode got back to us, and unfortunately it looks like it was what we suspected: another DDoS attack started and an automatic mitigation kicked in. Hopefully things will be back to normal soon!

Thank you for your patience while we investigated this. We confirmed that an automated mitigation block targeting incoming TCP port 443 traffic was triggered at the router level in response to the recent DDoS activity against your IP (198.58.122.110). Because this block is managed by our automated DDoS defense system, we do not have a specific ETA for its manual removal. However, once the DDoS event subsides and attack traffic is clear, the system will automatically remove the block and restore normal HTTPS traffic. We are actively monitoring the situation on our end to ensure connectivity is restored as soon as traffic conditions stabilize. Please let us know if you have any additional questions in the meantime.
