Somebody asked me on Reddit why people who use AI to generate Recomp projects are currently being rejected from the communities and what they can do to fix this. I might tweak parts of this to be a more general blog post at some point, but this should be of help to anyone in a similar situation.
Called the cops because my neighbor's daughter is having a huge party with music slamming all night long, rattling my entire place. Party gets broken up, kids start jumping over the back fence. I get a knock at the door expecting it to be the cops, but no, it's one of the partygoers.

Talk enough trash and Palmer Luckey will follow you to Facebook and find your Nintendo 64 group
Hey if you talk enough sauce about ModRetro and Palmer Luckey you can catch a block from Duke Nukem person George Broussard
So, all the work on my arcade machine this weekend was a success, even if it didn't always go as smoothly as I hoped. It's nice knowing that a lot of the things that annoyed me that most wouldn't see are now fixed.
To the gentleman who came to my AWU table looking for the “Garfield Fucks With Fat Bitches” print : I gotcha
Today's arcade work - hooking up the internal test/service switches to the buttons on my subpanel so that I can trigger test/service from the actual proper internal buttons if I want to followed by dremeling out some plastic so that I can install a wireless charger in my fake NESICA card reader.
I know a post has gone through on bsky when I see random blocks start rolling in thanks to people still using ye olde Discovery feed.
Just pulled out miles of my previous terrible wiring done years back from my arcade machine control panel. Basically had to get the fighting stick cable to get proper L3 and R3 buttons so figured I may as well do the rest. Can't tell you how much cleaner this looks.
This is a neat discovery, and it happens more often than you think. @tcrf.net has an article cataloguing such instances: tcrf.net/List_of_Game...
PSA: uBlock Origin's EasyList has an AI Widgets option that doesn't get turned on by default, including if you had other EasyList items selected already before it was added. Enabling it removes a number of various AI buttons, nags, prompts, etc. across various sites.
Remember when they tried to sell this shit as an NFT a few years ago?
Evo Moment #37, also known as the Daigo Parry, occurred at the 3rd Strike semifinal match at EVO 2004 22 years ago today. It had Daigo Umehara's Ken making a comeback against Justin Wong's Chun-Li by parrying Houyokusen with only 1 HP left & countering it to win the match.
I have to give it up to 4 years ago me. If I thought that there was any remote chance of a tool or item that could be helpful when I got my arcade machine, I bought it. And I'm rediscovering this as I'm going through it and finding all sorts of things I bought and never used.
This weekend is going to be devoted to fixing up some stuff in the arcade machine. Molex crimping tool, a Noctua fan to replace the one in the machine that has a broken fin so it makes a slight bit less noise, redoing the control panel wiring, redoing the coin mech wiring, cable management.
any time you hear someone going on about how the crawler epidemic has forced them to shut down whatever independent website they ran, this shit is why. it costs nothing to spin up a trash service that harasses a website demanding copies of every single possible thing, forever.
Daily reminder that GDscript supports the Sumerian clay table alphabet, Akkadian cuneiform of ancient Mesopotamia. This is perfectly valid code you can write in your game:
Spent some time working on my arcade machine over the weekend and during that time, I came to realize just how much information about various emulator frontends and such have been lost. Attract Mode's forums are gone and a few other places just... don't exist anymore.
Meanwhile, over in Lemmy (Reddit alternative), the creator of Tesseract was caught having added a blocklist of users/communities that it silently blocks without informing the users. This blocklist does not exist in source control and is auto downloaded on launch from an external site.
Don't be surprised if you see some service outages right now. Amazon AWS West-2 in Oregon is apparently down/impacted which is causing Blizzard's BattleNet and Sony's PSN outages. health.aws.amazon.com/health/status

Teknoparrot now has a Linux version in beta. One less thing think about for my arcade machine, hopefully.
Not all Mercy Overwatch hate is misogyny but A LOT of it is
by age 30 you should have at least one overly-hated female character that you get extremely defensive about
Vibe coded shit has become such a huge problem lately and has polluted so many areas related to FPGA, recompilations etc. Nearly every example of this produces broken or poorly performing results. It's happening exactly as I feared.
Siiiigh vibe-coded recomps have come for my beloved Mischief Makers next. There's only one video up of it which doesn't show any of the 3D scenery stages, but the 3D rocks in the intro have broken textures. Emulation used to have that problem decades ago but it emulates perfect these days.
