I think it's highly disrespectful to teen readers & librarians/teachers fighting book bans when authors & publishers publish "crossover" YA books, then recategorize them to double dip from the adult market.

Did any other library people notice Macmillan & HarperCollins just hiked up their audiobook prices? Macmillan's almost doubled (from $50ish to $90-100ish), and Harper's are now up to $130. Note: these are YA prices. Adults are always more expensive.

😩 And the hits just keep on coming . . . estimate for the roof repair is going to be $375 (insurance won't touch it) and thankfully they can do it next week before another storm hits. Disabled and struggling hard this year, anything helps ❤️ www.paypal.com/paypalme/the... ko-fi.com/danielletbq

Does anyone know if Random House shuttered their Underlined paperback imprint? It is very hard to find information because Underlined is also their publicity group's name. This is like Macmillan formerly having an imprint named... Imprint.

The Stars lost, and I'm on page 162 of a romance novel but the characters haven't even kissed yet. I have spent the afternoon yelling "SCORE ALREADY" at both my tv & my book.

PRH having a slew of layoffs just months after S&S did theirs is just so disheartening. It’s hard not to feel jaded. I feel so bad for all my editorial colleagues and for the fact that Dial BYFR has been completely shuttered. We need books. Children need books. And those editors deserved better.

This is a super random ask, but if anyone has an ARC of Midnight on the Celestial by Julia Alexandra that they don't mind parting with, I would love to have it. She's my cousin, and that feels a little like family history.

Also, publishing comes in cycles. I think people feel threatened when something is BIG bc it might make it harder for them. But eventually YOUR thing is going to be the BIG thing people are shitting on. Probably won't feel so good then. We all gotta be a little more empathic with each other, is all

Someday I want to write something that people don't categorically shit on just bc it isn't their thing. But where would be the fun in that? 😬

There's a YA book coming out in a month with a 21 year old love interest. AUTHORS & PUBLISHERS: YOU CANNOT KEEP DOING THIS. Are you aware these headhunters are looking for any opportunity, any excuse to ban books? YOU CANNOT HAVE A LOVE INTEREST IN THEIR 20s IN A BOOK FOR TEENS.
