Bought the bf a nice new headset and found that Razer's software actively makes the headset sound WORSE unless you install additional software locked behind a registration form. That was the last straw. We wiped his computer and installed Linux. We are officially a Windows-free household.

PSA: If you are using Telegram Desktop, close it and update it IMMEDIATELY. There is a fresh vulnerability that just got published two days ago, and hackers attempted to use it to exfiltrate data from my desktop today. Thankfully my security system blocked it, but most people don't have an IPS.

Built my own router yesterday after my ASUS router declared its intention to spy on me after an update. I'm still using the ASUS router as a wireless access point, but blocked its ability to communicate outside on the new firewall. This fucker tried to phone home more than 300 times while I slept.

100% agree with this, but I'll add a caveat: That person who I don't want to fuck needs to not be a sex pest. It goes both ways. I have plenty of friends that I have no sexual interest in. However, a lot of people dry beg after it's been made clear that I'm not reciprocating, and it's not cute.

Tuesday Thoughts - I am a (VERY) firm believer in the phrase "fuck your friends". But you can, and maybe should consider, being friends with people even if you don't want to fuck them. Friendships needn't be transactional and, I think, they shouldn't be. Just be good to your friends, sex or no.

Just a casual Sunday night setting up a Pangolin reverse proxy on a Lightsail VPS so I can decommission my Cloudflare tunnel while maintaining zero trust network security and not needing to enable port forwarding on my home network. Ya know, simple. What is wrong with me, that I do this for fun?

Find the people who make you feel like you don’t take up too much space. The people who embrace you for you, and don’t make you feel like an embarrassment, or a burden, or an annoyance to be tolerated. Who make you feel like you can just belong somewhere without a mask to make yourself palatable.

Hey Photobucket, not sure who you think you are, but sending me threatening emails titled "We found you" telling me that you are holding 3 pics I uploaded over a decade ago for a $400 ransom is quite possibly the least compelling solicitation I've ever seen. Go out of business.

Did you know that many of your favorite apps have web versions that are just as good and help protect your privacy by not giving these services 24/7 access to your device? Bsky, Discord, Telegram, they all have web apps that work just as well as the installed apps.

I love doing difficult things, but I'm not afraid to cut my losses. I won't push myself to continue down a path where I see harm ahead. Failure is always an option, and sometimes it's the best one. Bravery is best when it is divorced from ego. If you fear failure, are you truly brave?

The backup scheme is officially complete. Nightly backups of my system to the 10TB HDD and an AWS S3 standard bucket, with monthly backups of my 500 GB photo library going to a separate AWS S3 Glacier Deep Archive bucket. Total cost for this storage? About 50 cents a month.

Weezer's new song confuses me. You're telling us that an out-of-touch CEO ordered you to make nostalgia bait, so you complied even though you hate the music you're making, but you still want me to engage with it? Why would I engage with slop even the artist hates? Your honesty isn't a pass.

Setting up nightly backups for my server has been surprisingly fun. Designing and coordinating the various sources, types, schedules, locations, and encryption was cathartic. Taking ownership of my data again instead of paying someone else a fortune to manage it has been liberating.
