So after a round about dinner convo about school and AI we came around to sci-fi and Ray Bradbury and then nuclear war and MAD and I ended by reading them There Will Come Soft Rains aloud… spouse got home from work in the middle of it. Was an interesting dinner. (And now I have a headache)

Sat up too long writing a blog post (and forgot my neck brace) so now I need to lie down and rest before I can eat my dinner. That was not smart. Did not have to be done sitting up but I didn’t think it would take as long as it did and I wasn’t paying attention. Poor pacing. Fortunately

My almost-teen has started bringing me lists of books — from the recs on her kindle when she finishes something. Yesterday she said, “the teen and young adult books are the most interesting sounding” — I said yup that makes sense! I’m steering her toward the younger side of those books for now

I wrote a poem last night about a moment I’ve been wanting to write about for years. I’m not sure if it’s any good. Anyone wanna read and critique? I’m not looking for praise. I want you to tear it apart and show me where to build it up again.

Three days left of summer break. There are puzzles out all over the house. They’re going swimming at a friends tomorrow, out with Dad on Tuesday, and we’ll be home Dealing With Feelings on Wednesday. Thursday: 10th, 7th, 4th, and 2nd grades!
