In one of the more shocking revelations in this whole thing, as far as I can tell this guy didn’t go to Stanford.
An 8 employee hedge fund that was up hundreds of percent and used aggressive leverage is asking investors for more cash to meet margin calls. The tropes in this particular bull market couldn’t get any lazier. www.ft.com/content/2803...
Yet again having to explain to my cat that if he sits down on the chair first, I can’t sit down in order for him to get to have lap time, all while he furiously meows at me demanding lap.
I never feel as in tune with and connected to my body as when my upper respiratory system is doing something gross
This happened with my W-2 this year (I could only login to the mobile app, not the website) and it nearly killed me.
my most millennial trait is that it irritates me to no end when something can only be done on my phone and not on my laptop
Ambrose has figured out a powerful new technique to get attention from his mama -- if you saunter over and literally sit on top of her, she'll have no option but to clean your ears for you. Cat innovator of the year!
It’s telling the junior student it will look at their code on Monday and whoops it’s now Thursday
"AI is operating at a PhD level" oh, so it's replying 'sorry for the late response' to every email and complaining about its labor conditions?
This stands a real chance of seriously inconveniencing me but it would also be extremely funny, so I have no choice but to surrender to the utilitarian calculus here
Faulkner: "Sanctuary cities include Boston, Chicago, Denver, LA, NY, Philadelphia, SF. All of those airports handle 1,100 int'l flights per day. They're not just gonna not fly. They're gonna go to red states and cities. A boon for red states. People will just really hate living in blue states."
Very exciting to see the team behind PyData Paris crossing language borders! I'll definitely attend 👀
Why attend Compute! Paris 2026 (Nov 25-26)? Leave with new techniques, new contacts, and a clearer picture of where data science is heading. This isn’t just another conference,it’s a community. compute.events/paris2026/ #ComputeParis
I’m reading this book "More Everything Forever" and it’s remarkable how in Ray Kurzweil's vision of the future, humanity just turns into the Tyranids

The tubeless gods have punished me for my hubris by giving me a flat the one day I forgot to bring my pump.
We’re living in the ruins of a greater civilization

People aren’t talking enough about finishing a bag of sour gummy worms on a long bike ride then slowly getting all the sour crystals once home
34 and apparently my max heart rate is at least 202? Well, I won’t argue…
I will believe that Canadian governments are actually serious about our prosperity and role in the world when they start funding our universities at an actually effective level rather than constantly cutting them.
At St. Thomas University they have told the community the cuts could be as high as 15% of the budget for universities in New Brunswick. Meanwhile, they are funneling $45 million to the largest corporations in the province to ‘offset tariffs.’
My cat when he hasn’t sat on my lap in the last hour: ooooowwwuuuuuu I’m freezing to death through my belly please human please do something I need to sit on lap

The Wikipedia article of the day is the discovery of the burial place of Richard III and the header image is his excavated skeleton. I understand it’s hard to look cool or suave as a skeleton but he really seems to have a “bwuh???” thing going on.
In other news, Ambrose the cat is busy making his king’s progress around the various fleece blankets in the apartment
Made tartiflette. This stuff rules it’s like loaded scalloped potatoes BUT it’s French so it’s good for you.
