Neurospicy, queer. Feral goblin hermit since 2020. I knit (mostly socks), read books, and hang out with my pet rats. Sometimes I remember that I have a sourdough starter and bake some bread.

Poor little Spike had an abscess on her hip, and had to have a surgery about it. She firmly believes in the ancient rat tradition of fucking with stitches, so she will be spending a while as a sad stiff little tape burrito. :( #PetRats

Photo through the bars of a tiny hospital cage. Spike, a small black rat, stands and grooms her arm and shoulder. Her midriff is wrapped in wide tan colored tape, so she can't bend to reach her stitches.Same as first pic but she's washing her ears now.

Sometimes when I get groceries, I overestimate how much I'll actually want to eat a given food in the near future. Unfortunately I buy most of the groceries at Costco. Anyway, I have a fraught relationship with seaweed salad right now. 🙁

White bowl of rice topped with smoked salmon, seaweed salad, kimchi, and ridiculously bright picked red onion. On the side is a smaller blue-green bowl with cucumber and more seaweed salad.

"I already boycott The New York Times/don't have a subscription, what can I do?" A lot! You can: * Share our call for boycott. Tell others about the NYT's role in trans genocide * Stop sharing NYT links, even to dunk on them * Pressure the pension/retirement funds invested in the NYT to divest

"If trans people want a boycott of The New York Times, where's the call to do so?" Here is a declaration laying out how the NYT is a key driver of trans genocide, why boycotts work and why anyone who gives a damn about trans lives and rights must boycott The New York Times.

Mission Five-a-Day continues.... Going really heavy for breakfast and lunch, since I'm usually out of exec function after work. I figure that should make up for my very probable ghoul dinner.

Breakfast food on my desk. Cheese-and-nuts snack pack. Granola bar. Blue plastic plates with chunks of cucumber, tomato, and plum.Desk lunch.

Main thing is a blue bowl with cucumber slices, sardines, kimchi, a pickle spear, and some disappointingly pale seaweed salad. There's rice hiding under all that.

On the side is a smaller green bowl with another chunked plum, and a can of Coke Zero.

Eeeee, I finally have my copy of I Punched an Alien and Now We're in Couples Therapy!! Toffee does not share my enthusiasm for goofy sci-fi romcoms. He rates it one star, since it does not smell fun to chew. (Snob!) But if that sounds like a genre YOU would like to read.... #PetRats #BookSky

Toffee, a large brown and white rat, stands on a sofa cushion and sniffs gingerly at a paperback book.

So one thing I really truly miss about BezosMart is that preordered books would arrive (not merely ship) on release day. Are there any more wholesome booksellers that pull that off? Or is it something you can only do if you've got the economic dominance of a giant corporation? #BookSky
