today I learned that "mancha" in Spanish means "stain"; and also that the region of Spain named "La Mancha" most likely does NOT derive from the Spanish word "mancha"

Humans are notoriously bad at telling the difference between "bad thing didn't happen to me because I minimized the risk" and "bad thing didn't happen to me therefore the risk was minimal" and Republicans prey on that.
