I find this an increasing issue in YA as well. A lot of authors are trying to hold the hands of their teen audiences (or of the adults who are reading it). Everything is over explained and wrapped up in a tidy bow. Teens complain to me about it frequently.

Readers don’t need to be babied. Let us figure things out. Leave room for interpretation. Over-explanation makes writing worse.
