Crude bigotry gets into intelligent, educated heads & makes a nest very easily. It just needs to find a suitable medium, package itself in a complex shell that appeals to that kind of mind. 'Gender critical' and IQ BS are examples. This is what we're talking about when we talk about 'brainworms'.

![Some establishment figures, who shared a common class and
political position to Allied governments, took the road of resistance,
but the sort of problems they faced were revealed during the
Czechoslovak crisis of 1938. Fearing the Führer would start an
unwinnable global war, influential conservative conspirators
including the Army’s Commander-in-Chief plotted to arrest him.
They were confident there could be ‘no possibility of a hitch’ to their
plan just so long as Britain and France were willing to stand up to

ground’4 because the Nazis were merely ‘consummating at long last
the unity of Greater Germany’. 5 Above all, Henderson wanted a
strong Germany to hold back communism: ‘Moscow’s chief aim
was to embroil Germany and the Western Powers in a common
ruin and to emerge as the tertius gaudens [the third one wins] of the
conflict between them.’6 So the pleas of the plotters were ignored

So, we know that among the several thousand faculty at Ghent University only the one lone-hiring supervisor is willing to claim that this is an academic freedom issue which must be publicly condemned. You can now count how many academics from the same UK institutions have signed this letter.
Jason Arday^: I remember someone, who I respect, saying ‘the evidence was mounting up’ & I reviewed everything I had seen proof of WRT plagiarism & came up blank. Everything was anecdotal & I noted everyone exaggerates on their CV, but running wasn’t relevant* It was. He did.

I'm listening to lectures by Dr Jason Arday. He was legit. If you wanted to be leftier than thou you could say "urgh it's just left lib identity politics blah blah" but it is thoroughly unobjectionable stuff to anyone who isn't a crashing philistine reactionary. What a disgusting country this is.

Snow Burrow@bostonjerry.bsky.social · 2w agoOne of the key strategies of Russian troll-farms in 2016 was that they determined the most efficient way to help Trump was to inflame racial divisions between Black and white Democrats and used sock-puppet trolls to do it. That strategy is still in play, but it's not just Russians doing it anymore.
