I think the rage directed at Wilson shows how hollow the "But he's getting people interested in the classics" line is. Like he probably is and Wilson, correctly, understands that as an academic studying classics this is a moment to talk about her specialism a bunch to a new audience.

mad fucking props to Dr Wilson for looking at the internet going absolutely stupid at her and going alright, fuck it, round two let's go bitches

Anyone who thought for one single solitary second that Tillis and Cornyn would actually deny Blanche the appointment... well, I fail in my mental hunt for a comically exaggerated false belief that is more ludicrously naive than hundreds of things these fucking people actually believe...

Elon Musk's politics are indistinguishable from Paul Golding of Britain First [except Britain First is more coded on violence, while Musk has been more openly pro-violence as inevitable, necessary, legitimate since Aug 2025] The main pro-Hitler YouTuber "Zoomer Historian" is encouraged.

The radicalisation of Elon Musk (or at least his parroting of our views) shows that once people just swim in the same waters as us then gradually they’ll soon become us, bodes well for the future when every voter is heavily online

When a stable system predictably does harm, the problem isn't that the system is failing. Rather, the system is clearly *for* doing harm, and is succeeding. The question becomes: how does the harm perpetuate the system. The answer is almost always that someone benefits from it.

The truth about AI-generated content and writing is that, if you're actually paying attention and are actively engaged, you can tell the difference. AI only works in a society where people are dissociating and distracted and unengaged. That's the point of it. To just forward an unlived life.

Quintessential Ezra Klein. An avalanche of verbiage and yet he says absolutely nothing. The Odyssey reminded him of various things. That's it. Fatuous, pompous, pointless, pretentious, uninsightful, moralistic drivel.

None of these people are tricksters, they are only liars. "We have been living in an age of tricksters. Musk, President Trump, Tucker Carlson, Andrew Tate, Nick Fuentes — the grammar of the modern right is tricksy."

AI fabricates facts, citations, and arguments that lead to the desired conclusion. It works backwards from a chosen result to confect an aesthetic mock-up of reality. Its only purpose is to have a pseudo mental product shaped to user needs. In other words: it works exactly like right-wing brains.

Amnesty Int is about to learn - Appeasing the beast doesn't do anything but make it want more bites out of you. Giving in doesn't EVER work. It just makes you easier to digest. Fight and you can win. Roll over and you will be made an example of. Every. Time.

Yes. It shows (yet again) how utterly pointless it is to argue with fascists. You will not get them to hear you, let alone persuade them, because they have chosen to start their reasoning from fundamentally different, skewed conceptions of value, meaning, social good, etc.

It is funny that this person thinks “immigrants defended the union while native born whites sought to destroy it in the name of slavery” is an argument against immigrants being Americans. This is precisely the point, nothing about being born here makes you better bsky.app/profile/aphc...

Another datapoint for the fascist radicalisation of institutional pillars of much of the American Right
