Too cool to be lame, too lame to be cool

The funny thing is the legendary and beloved filmaker I'd compare Christopher Nolan to over Kubrick is Spielberg. Like, the only similarities Nolan has with Kubrick is Aesthetic- tonally his movies are very much more akin to Stephen Spielberg movies

I’ve seen people say this is Trump secretly helping Putin by draining missile stockpiles but realistically, this sounds a lot more like complete mismanagement by the clown car of total morons that Trump installed in the military to be loyal to him instead of you know, being competent at their job.

To remind the people at home about where this guy stands on things: Dr. Anthony Fauci: An evil man who needs to be in prison because Covid conspiracies. Max Miller: Max is a bad boy who needs psychiatric help and not jail time for physically abusing his daughter and grandchild.

senator bernie moreno finally makes a statement about the allegations of abuse by rep. max miller against his daughter and granddaughter after miller went live on X this morning to deny everything.

It is not just that Fauci is held to a different standard. His critics are held to no standards at all. They routinely say insane or untrue things. We saw one of the most extraordinary public health officials in the world being lectured to by public health cranks.

10. The slander is such that millions of Fox viewers now believe, years later, that the man most responsible for saving their lives is actually the most responsible for the decimation of trust in government. bsky.app/profile/atru...

One of the best movies about America ever made, John made an incendiary statement that pokes the eye of the wealthy and politicians who work together to retain their power at the expense of the American working class. It’s relevance cannot be overstated, this could be remade in 2026 and still work.

They Live is a story about a world overtaken by greed and propaganda, where countless people have fallen victim to the idea that one must consume and never question their own consumption and misfortune. It's John Carpenter's most openly political effort. And it's an absolute blast.

Within ten years, Trump took a party (who already turned into a obstructionist party to spite Obama) and transformed it into his own through bullying, name calling, and threatening the old guard until they left and the fringe filled in the vacancies. There is no return to order for the GOP.

Better Things Are Possible@internethippo.bsky.social · 7d ago

One drum I keep beating is that the Trumpification of the Republican Party is irreversible. Even after he's gone it will be exclusively cranks, charlatans, and malevolent antisocial goons. "It was always like that"-it wasn't! It's gotten steadily, measurably worse, and he was the nail in the coffin

Fauci basically didn’t toe Trump’s line and when 2020 basically torpedoed his initial re-election, Fauci became the GOP’s enemy. The core of this was always Trump being angry because he was made to look like a fool by a long term federal employee who wouldn’t uphold his trademark lying.

Aside from its many other problems, the idea Fauci was America's power-abusing covid dictator is somewhat complicated by the fact that he never had the power to do the things they're mad about. His recommendations bound nobody and were not particularly rigorously followed by the actual policymakers.

Four points for everyone responding to posts about gov’t assistance with shit like “or maybe just don’t have kids”: 1. Fuck you. 2. Reproductive freedom is a basic human right. 3. Punishing poor people for having kids—and even more, punishing kids for having poor parents—is evil. 4. Fuck you.

One of the true hallmarks of the second Trump administration is the never ending parade of goofy, mouthy syncopates who thump their chests and talk nonstop shit about their enemies, despite not actually accomplishing much of anything.

Fox correspondent: "President Trump tells Fox News about Iran, 'We are going to beat the f**king s**t out of them.' He went on to say, 'We'll be hitting them hard. They're going to get a beating.'"
