We are now in an existential crisis for American science, 3 d into the new administration. The proximal risk: without grant funding the biomedical economy collapses. The lasting risk: American leadership in science falls. People leave science. Cures for cancer, Alzheimer’s, etc… are compromised.
All NIH study sections canceled indefinitely. This will halt science and devastate research budgets in universities.
