Much gratitude to Cynthia Gómez, author of MUÑECA, for this blurb for Caleb Sierra's THE WETWORKS MIRACLE. Get your hands on one of the strangest books you'll ever read. WETWORKS is now available from your favorite bookstore. "The tree-cattle are lowing to be milked." 😱

Graphic set against a dark, mossy forest. At right is the green illustrated cover of THE WETWORKS MIRACLE by Caleb Sierra, featuring a many-limbed creature holding a book and quill. At left, Cynthia Gómez, author of MUÑECA and THE NIGHTMARE BOX AND OTHER STORIES, calls the novella “a harrowing journey through an increasingly strange and beautiful world," praising its human-like creatures, psychedelic fungi, beautiful and grotesque body horror, “dense, gorgeous, musical prose,” and extraordinary ecosystem. THE EVERWINTER KING's pitch.

PITCH
A former holy king does the one thing he swore he’d never do in search of his missing god. He goes home.

Malachi was born with God’s voice in his head. When God vanishes in the midst of a decade-long winter, Mal breaks the oath he made to himself and returns to the home he abandoned—the city where he was raised to be king. There, he’s marked to compete in trials meant to select God’s new emissary. His replacement.

After succeeding in the first trial, Mal demands entry to the royal temple, where he learns the skies are empty. God has stopped speaking to his priests and Mal alike. With no other avenue for answers, Mal must win the competition for God’s favor and assume the throne he never wanted, or risk losing his oldest friend for good and damning the world to a worsening everwinter. An excerpt from THE EVERWINTER KING. Next to the excerpt is character art of the main character. He has light bright skin, dark brown hair, facial hair, and a simple jerkin over white shirt. His eye is glowing like the sun.

EXCERPT STARTS BELOW

“My head hurts,” Malachi mumbled into his drink.

“They say King Ridaris’ eye glowed like this.”

Did they? Malachi shuffled through his memories for any mention of that from his mothers, or the history books, and found nothing.

“I think it means God knows who you are.” Sen lowered her voice, eyes shifting toward the surrounding priests. Kinder to pretend she did it out of concern for his headache. “You need to be careful.”

“Aye.”

“It hasn’t stopped glowing. Everyone else’s did.”

He raised a hand to cover his eye, pausing to marvel at the light pouring over his fingers and palm. It spilled into every crack, crevice, and scar his hand had to offer, like liquid pooled against his skin. Malachi closed his fist around the cold light and pressed it to his face. “Hurts.”

“Close your eyes,” Samara offered. “Rest. We’ll handle it from here.”

For once, he did just that.A page listing comp titles.

The worst day of Ania’s life was when her beloved cousin Piren was dragged off to the floating towers of the Above to serve as a source to the Skyborn mages. The second worst day was when he was returned. Discarded. Drained of his magic and broken in spirit.

Ania left behind her rebellious past to support her cousin as he once
supported her. In a city where any display of magic makes you a target
of the Skyborn, keeping your head down and your magic a secret, taking care of your friends, your family and your neighborhood is the only safe way to survive.

But now, everything she’s built over twenty years of safe, carefully
constructed life is falling apart. To recover what she’s lost, Ania takes on one last dangerous heist that strikes at the heart of the Skyborn’s power. She may end up losing herself. She may just bring the entire system crashing down. The Shadows: Comp Titles

I'm too old for this shit but no one else can do it.“Except you can help me without bringing the bluejackets and their hunters down on my head!” Ania yelled, throwing her arms in the air. “All I’m asking you for is money. You’re asking me to risk my life! My family’s life!” She glared at him, grinding out her words through clenched teeth. “You want me to dust off magic I haven’t used in twenty years! How is that fair?” She spat the last word.
“It’s not fair!” Verasi spat back at her. “None of this is fair!” He flung a hand out. “Our people, our friends and family, our neighbors, are ripped from their homes in the middle of the night. They’re enslaved, ridden so hard they break. Maybe it takes a year. Maybe it takes five. Maybe it only takes a couple of months.” He continued in a harsh whisper. “We live in constant fear that it’ll be one of us. If not one of us, someone we know. Someone we love. Their propaganda machine is turning our own people against us. You know they’re not even testing people to see if they have any magical talent now? They’re just rounding people up at random and carting them off Above. None of them come home, not the same way they left.”

"A Manhattan Summer Night's Dream" written in white against a photo of Manhattan at nightPhillipa Crane, or Pip, as she prefers to be called, is a mischief sprite, content to spend her days playing tricks on the unsuspecting finance bros of Manhattan and her nights DMing for her girl squad, the Pixie Chicks. That is until Leo Lovehard (yes, that's his actual name), a love sprite, decides to match up Daisy, the only girl in New York Pip has deemed too-cool-to-fuck-with, with Chase, Pip's favorite corporate Zillennial to bother. Pip refuses to let Daisy trade her hip 1970s-inspired vintage clothing shop for a happily-ever-after with a man who considers a trip to Costco to be a "fun night out." She does everything in her power to thwart Leo's matchmaking, but with every attempted sabotage, she somehow brings Daisy and Chase closer. When she begins to catch feelings for her overly romantic and painfully optimistic nemesis, she must decide if admitting she was wrong about love is worth her own shot at the feeling she's spent a lifetime avoiding.
