Today was a very birdy day. While drinking my coffee this morning, I could hear a very demanding osprey screaming from somewhere nearby. Then, on tonight’s dog walk, we heard a great horned owl very close to us and later surprised a literal swarm of bushtits. 🦅🦉🐤

I ended the school year with 3 days of author visits Woodridge Elementary. I presented “Truths and Lies” to grades 3-5 on the 1st day, then saw K and 1st grade for interactive read-alouds of all 4 books from the Meet Your World Series. So much fun!

My day job is at a rural branch of a public library, and we have a Pride display. Yesterday I was at the desk when a man came in. Fifties, maybe, or sixties. Plaid shirt, mesh trucker cap, suspenders. He went up to the display and just stood there for a long moment. Then he came up to the desk. 🧵 1/

This middle-grade nonfiction book is absolutely stunning: lovely text in verse, love, adventure, science, sidebars, survivor stories, illustrations/photographs/design, and in-depth backmatter. I couldn't put it down. Highly recommended!
