Ease and Uplift. Stardust and Space trash. Suffering no fools.

It sounds crazy, but I guess when somebody tells you their only mistake was a Nazi tattoo, its possible they actually made a series of other mistakes that did not happen to produce a Nazi tattoo.

I need people (gentiles mostly) to understand that keeping Jews and Judaism separate from the actions of the state of Israel doesn’t mean “Jews have no connection to the state of Israel.” It doesn’t mean that a Jewish person who expresses connection there is “one of the bad Israel Jews.”

I’ve come to realize people think slurs are just words that hurt our feelings. No. Slurs, particularly the N-word, F-word, antisemitic terms etc. aren’t taboo because of that. It’s because historically when these terms are said they precede or pair with pitchforks, torches, lynchings & gas chambers.

It’s genuinely wild that the United States spent decades building an elaborate rules-based international order which de facto cemented its permanent status as the dominant global hegemon, sustained by ideology rather than might, and now is just blowing it all up for literally no reason

Lot of conversation about antisemitism this week so just a gentle reminder that we don’t hyphenate the word, because it implies there is such a thing as a “Semitic” race (there isn’t, there’s only Semitic language) - and implying there is a Jewish race is of course deadly for the Jews. More info:

Screenshot of a twitter thread:

"Semitism" is not a real thing, it comes from the word Semitic, referring to a group of languages originating from the Middle East.

In 1867 an antisemitic German journalist started using the term "Anti-Semitic" to refer to prejudice against Jewish people because he perceived us as an inferior race and not just a religious group, and then the term caught on.

But using it with the hyphen would imply that "anti-semitism" is hate against Semites which again is not a real group and it was just a way for antisemites to attempt to classify Jews into this pseudo-scientific racial group which they thought was inferior

We use "antisemitism" without the hyphen to distinguish from the semitic language group (and these hateful origins) when discussing pre against Jewish people.

"We Beat 'Em Before... (Portland's Version)" This idea came to me late. I think it fits really well since Portland Frog Brigade literally carries no weapons and yet ICE has no idea how to respond to them. Just feckless incompetent goons all around.

A propaganda poster in a painterly style. At the top there is a Nazi soldier in a faded grey with his hands raised at the point of a bayonet. Above him it says "We beat 'em before.." Below him in darker grey is an ICE agent in the same posture, with a hand pushing back at him, its palm out in a "stop" gesture. The hand is from the Portland Frog, a person in an inflatable frog suit. Below it says "We'll beat 'em again!"

I came across this from that other place, written 12 days after J6 and two days before Trump was evicted and Biden took over. We are in the trouble we’re in because Trump was not held accountable for his crimes, particularly inciting a ldeadly insurrection. Accountability is key for our future.
