#SDCC comic con: our daughter left her 3D printed black dragon in the restroom near E/Starbucks. She printed it herself and is devastated. We checked the restroom and lost and found which means someone picked it up. If you bring it to 5552 I will give you a signed comic as reward

My turn to enter the world of Jimothy fan art. These two illustrations are based on two versions of the beloved logo of Japanese company Yamato Transport. I wanted to pay homage to Jimothy's mom, who didn't abandon him just because he needed a little more patience to raise.

A parody of the old Kuroneko logo for Yamato Transport. It is horizontal black oval with a thick grey border. A mother raccoon carrying a baby raccoon in its mouth is inside the oval, and its tail and ear clip the oval's border. It is a simple flat shape, all grey, except for the tail stripes and mask on each raccoon. The shapes of the heads are outlined so that there is a "cut out" look to it. Below it in Japanese is "Jimothy Transport."A parody of the newer Kuroneko logo for Yamato Transport. It is horizontal, slightly squarish black oval. Oliphant was my main influence as well. It helped that his style looked like a much looser Watterson (or rather, Watterson is a tighter Oliphant? everything is interconnected) - I strove to be as sharp and devastating as Oliphant in my own high school paper. I still strive for that.

I think multiple things could happen, including what’s described here. I think we need to remember that a comic and an academic biography don’t have 100% crossover. And anyone looking for FACTS will read CLIVES’ work. Walden openly says she invented/changed things for narrative’s sake.

I have sympathy with Cleves; while not on the same level Anthony Bourdain did the same thing to me. He took an article I wrote called "When Food Attacks - Food-based Yokai in Japan" and turned it into the comic HUNGRY GHOSTS. I got a little thank you but that was it. It hurt. Not gonna lie. (1)

There are valid issues with the Charity and Silvia release by Tillie Walden, but I don't see how people can think she "stole the cover design." These book designs look nothing alike, other than they are both based on the only known image of the two women, this silhouette.

I read both books, and really liked both of them. But the books are extremely different experiences. One of the main concerns of Cleves' book - proving that the relationship was a sexual one - never comes up in Walden's book. Walden gives the characters a happy ending that only fiction can provide.

And it really bothers me that so many people accusing Walden of "ripping off," of plagiarism, of "theft" - have clearly never read Walden's graphic novel. Most of them probably haven't read Cleves' book, for that matter. How can you possibly claim to know that without reading both books?
