On the one hand, if El-Sayed didn't connect with black voters, just like Bernie and every other Dem who came up short in the last decade, that's on him. On the other hand, Stevens' pitch to black voters was heavy on her connections to Obama, to the point of implying he endorsed her when he didn't.

I kinda think El-Sayed will win, but it’s a total guess, I have no confidence that’s correct. But here’s a prediction I make with great confidence: If Stevens wins narrowly, & it’s in part because she dominated w Black voters, this place is going to get real ugly.

It's a brave thing to step up and say someone who is being remembered so warmly and fondly by so many was someone who hurt and traumatized you, but at the same time it does not surprise me at all to see that kind of bravery coming from Neko Case.

The Ethics Committee has released its report on Rep. Chuck Edwards (R-N.C.) #NC11 It finds that "there was substantial reason to believe Representative Edwards violated House Rules related to sexual harassment and hostile workplaces." ethics.house.gov/press-releas...

Pursuant to House Rule XI, clause 3(q)(2)(D), the Chairman of the Committee on Ethics, Representative Michael Guest, and the Ranking Member, Representative Mark DeSaulnier, submitted a report to the House of Representatives in the Matter of Allegations Relating to Representative Chuck Edwards. The Report includes the findings of the Committee in this matter, along with the responsive views of Representative Edwards. At the completion of its investigation, the Committee concluded there was substantial reason to believe Representative Edwards violated House Rules related to sexual harassment and hostile workplaces. The Committee Rules provide for a process before the Committee can recommend that the House of Representatives sanction a Member. However, the Member can waive any part of that process. Although he disagrees with the Committee’s findings, Representative Edwards agreed to waive certain procedural steps, after reviewing a draft of the report several days prior, allowing the Committee to recommend a House-level sanction in relation to his conduct.

It ain't a pretty truth, but Eric speaks the truth here. Graham wanted power far more than any of the dignity, principle, or respect he sacrificed in order to obtain it, so in the end it was a very good deal for him.

I had a different perspective than most when watching Lindsey Graham's funeral: After years of being second fiddle or the understudy to McCain, he finally got everything he wants. He got the elaborate funeral at National Cathedral, being eulogized by a president, being feted on the Senate floor.

I genuinely don't get why it's so difficult, in Ohio or anywhere else, to say "subject to some basic oversight to ensure safety and fairness for all, trans girls ought to be able to play girls sports". Huge disappointment when Brown did it in 2024, huge disappointment with Acton now.
