Today, at #EASP26 in Strasbourg, I presented a poster focusing on acceptance of AI for fact checking & potential factors of vulnerability to misinformation. In our analysis, @lenafrescamente.bsky.social and I find that older adults are more positive towards the idea of AI use for fact checking.

Day 3 of #ICA2026 - and we are talking about hate and counterspeech across the world. I was super happy to present a study conducted with Cathy Buerger, Magdalena Obermaier and Joshua Garland in which we interviewed counterspeakers in 14 countries and on 3 countries.

In his #ICA26 address @Thomas Hanitzsch gives an impressive statement calling for the defense of academic freedom, sharing his personal experience from growing up in an authoritarian state, and highlighting the value for academic freedom back then and the threat to it today

#ICA27 will take place from the 3-7.6 2027 in Glasgow. Topic will be "centering the human - communication in an age of uncertainty"

Very excited to welcome @claesdevreese.bsky.social's other home, the stellar @aimediademlab.bsky.social at @ddc-sdu.bsky.social today to talk about some of the big questions around #AI, #media, #democracy. In the spirit of both centers, the work of the early career scholars is in focal attention.

Also relevant: what really works is conflict- so party leaders also use each other, its like McDonald's vs Burger King - you get ppl to want a burger and choose between the two brands, instead of thinking about food in general.

Super interesting insight also also: was the Danish election a kind of test for AI in elections? And what can we learn from the unique Danish case? More research needed here;-)

My core learnings from today's election event- [1]established actors and routines become brittle, candidates have to become more influencer-ish and coordinated engagement becomes relwvant to rwplace adds [2] AI is here to stay - if we like it or not [3] No one's home elections will look like in 2030
