Les jeunes me paraissent plus lucides sur le sujet. Ils utilisent beaucoup ces outils, mais ils ne sont pas complètement dupes. Je trouve que ce sont plutôt les « boomers » qui sont surexcités par ce « nouveau jouet », à l’image de cette journaliste que cite Abel, qui raconte dans La Matinale de France Inter qu’elle a utilisé l’IA pour organiser une chasse au trésor pour l’anniversaire de son bambin… Comment peut-on se vanter de ça ? Je pense qu’un sursaut est possible, et que s’il advient il sera porté notamment par les plus jeunes.

Face aux enjeux technologiques, la société civile est beaucoup plus mature que les politiques. Aujourd’hui elle sent qu’avec le déploiement de l’IA, elle va subir une perte sèche, elle commence à l’exprimer, notamment dans les enquêtes d’opinion… et pourtant, les politiques ne se saisissent pas de cette résistance. Aucun parti ne permet à cette opinion d’être représentée dans l’arène politique. Au contraire : cette technologie est à peine disponible que beaucoup de responsables la présentent déjà comme « vitale », alors même que son caractère dispensable est évident.

Ce qui est certain, c’est que pour écouler leurs produits, les plus gros acteurs de l’IA ont besoin d’une forme de statu quo et de citoyens résignés. Si Alex Karp, le patron de Palantir, défend l’instauration d’un revenu universel, ça n’est pas au nom de l’égalité, mais parce qu’il sait que si le déploiement de l’IA se fait sans contrepartie, « les gens finiront par sortir leurs fourches », ce sont ses mots exacts !

Aujourd’hui, le mot magique, c’est « souveraineté ». Bien sûr, la souveraineté me paraît primordiale dans un monde de rareté de ressources et de prédation. Mais dans le discours dominant sur l’IA, la souveraineté a une seule signification : construire des méga datacenters, et participer à la course folle au gigantisme, sans aucun questionnement sur la place de l’IA dans nos vies.

Pour moi, la meilleure manière d’être souverains, ou bien robustes au sens que le biologiste Olivier Hamant donne à ce mot, c’est de réduire sa dépendance technologique et stratégique, à l’échelle collective mais aussi individuelle. À ce titre, la Déclaration universelle des droits de l’esprit humain, rédigée par le philosophe suisse Mark Hunaydi, est un texte tout à fait pertinent.
