"The World Cup is proof that, if it weren't for our leaders, the vast majority of people around the world would get along just fine." (amouthful_of_cherries/IG) After watching Brazilians show up in kilts, fans celebrating others singing their anthems, & parties, not progroms, I'm inclined to agree.

Highmark is my insurance company, with other @unitedchurch.bsky.social ministers. It’s honestly good insurance. But there something morally wrong with a health insurance co. having enough spare cash to buy naming rights to an NFL stadium. www.sportspro.com/news/stadium...

Buffalo Bills' naming rights for new stadium snapped up by Highmark - SportsPro

The Buffalo Bills' new venue is to be called 'New Highmark Stadium' until construction is completed in 2026.

All the Conservatives who have slandered Trans women because they’re so worried about the “safety of our daughters”…where’s your outrage about the actual, documented victims of Epstein and his coconspirators? You’d rather convict innocent people than hold the powerful accountable? That’s messed up

Just once I’d like to see one of these workers say “no”. “No, I refuse to change the sign unless Congress approves the change.” Or, “No, I refuse to bulldoze part of the White House without proper authority and safety precautions.” Or, even, “no, I refuse to arrest people without probable cause.”

Why do Republicans want to make life harder? For poor people, immigrants, sick people, women, kids who want vaccines, lgbtq kids, people who read books, etc. Why do people keep voting for Republicans who want us sicker, poorer, dumber, and made into an international laughing stock?

Look, believe what you want. I don’t judge. But it’s hilarious when people think they can offend me by calling the Bible “fiction”. Some of the truest stories humans ever told are fiction. Being a product of someone’s creative imagination doesn’t diminish them in any way.

Just for the record—Republicans have shut down the government now for almost a month because they are that committed to the idea that health care ought to be a privilege for those who can afford it, not a right for everyone. It’s immoral.

Being perpetually outraged, even at the legitimately outrageous, is exhausting. Take care of yourselves. Be gentle and kind with the people next to you. Laugh. Do fun things. Read some history, and/or historical fiction, to get your head out of the present. This could be a long ride.

Some of the world is apparently just learning this week that it hurts to lose someone you care about to gun violence. Took longer than I expected, but hey, here we all are. Can we now work together and do something? We don’t have to live like this.
