Massive Attack “surprised” Why are Westerners always shocked to find there’s no freedom of speech in Singapore? FWIW the SG government was persecuting my husband on his death bed, over a blog article and at the same time a govt crony was suing him for speaking out against Islamophobia. RIP Kenneth 💔

Massive Attack respond after Singapore ban over Palestine display

The UK band says they are "surprised and disappointed" by their treatment over shouting "free Palestine" at a concert there.

They don’t necessarily think that they were headed to the UK. It’s irrelevant to their goal to stir up division wherever the word migrant comes up. They need to keep “an enemy at the gate” narrative on the front burner whether imagined or not.

Among the very many dim takes around the Ceuta incident... the very, very dumbest must be the assumption in Reform circles that all those people were somehow trying to make it to Britain. How exceptionalist and indeed exceptionally stupid can you get?

It’s Manchester not National. It’s a mayoral selection not parliament. Reform got through to the second round. The Tories, the only other contender for Clacton, are collapsing further under Badenoch. We are still in danger of an extremist, populist right wing government under Farage/Reform

Start here. As many know I was the sole-carer for my now late husband. My council, uniquely in London, provides free home care not means tested. The test is need. Once GP found out I was physically getting Ken out of bed, dressing, washing, feeding him, unable to leave him 24/7 we got a daily carer

Caring has been central to my life, and the lives of millions across the country. I'll be meeting the Prime Minister today to discuss how we can finally find a solution to the care crisis. We need to do things differently. I really hope we are on a journey to fix this.

"After the arrest, Hong Kong’s security chief, Chris Tang, said that booksellers had a responsibility to ensure their books were lawful, 'just like merchants selling food have to make sure their food won’t make people sick'." This makes me sick, are you responsible?

My experience of Singapore’s swift tilt into full-blown authoritarianism makes me want to scream from the rooftops that freedoms once lost, are almost impossible to regain. Fight for your democracy now while you still have the mechanisms to do so. Before resistance is outlawed.

We need to recognize that Lutnick had this sort of access not because he was rich but because he ran Cantor Fitzgerald. This sort of corruption is institutional just as much as its personal. And this sort of "major American corporation buying access" behavior is omnipresent.
