Amazing work to everyone who spoke up about this! @streetsforall.org One note: I detest when people say local government is not political, as some mayors in this meeting did. Of course it's political! And a quick tell that one of the mayors saying this called it the "Democrat party":

Wow! Repeat: Full L.A. County City Selection Committee has failed to ratify Santa Clarita Councilmember Jason Gibbs for the Metro board.

The L.A. City Mobility Plan calls for bike lanes on both Van Nuys Blvd and Terra Bella St. But anti-bike Metro/LADOT folks decided to remove existing bike lanes on Van Nuys, and substitute them with shorter, unprotected ones on nearby Terra Bella.

There's a lot *not* to like about Metro/LADOT removing bike lanes on Van Nuys Boulevard and partially replacing them nearby on Terra Bella Street la.streetsblog.org/2026/07/27/n...

Color me skeptical about Mayor Karen Bass' Metro priorities - a sort of promise-almost-nothing version of Mamdani's fast&free buses. Bass has not made Metro, especially Metro transit riders, a priority for 3.5 years. Yesterday's speech mostly signals continuation of that inaction.

Mayor Karen Bass pledges some transit (and even bike) improvements are her priorities as Metro board chair. The ideas sound somewhat like Mamdani, but the details don't look very promising. la.streetsblog.org/2026/07/23/m...

Do CicLAvia and public-big-screen-sports watching go well together? I like both, and am a little conflicted as to how well they're working together in L.A. (and I don't like that Metro effectively shut out all regular open streets event for the next two years)

How was your #CicLAvia (or Coast or Beach Streets) yesterday? What do you think of how #openstreets events have dovetailed with public Men's World Cup soccer viewing? la.streetsblog.org/2026/07/20/c...
