This is absolutely extraordinary. It's hard to know where to start. The utter tone-deafness? The scorn towards local government? The high-handed dismissiveness towards people affected by racism and antisemitism? Badenoch is an X-brained crackpot.

People who behave like this in a hospital should still be treated, but they shld have to wait however long it takes until a doctor/nurse fitting their preferences goes on shift, and they should have to sit out that wait in a public waiting room wearing a gown with "racist" printed all over it.

If you, to take one random example, say that someone with a long history of neo-Nazi activity is welcome in your party because he did a training course, you are contributing to the problem of norm erosion.
This is what happens when anti-racism norms erode, and elites bear a lot of the responsibility for norm erosion, as they have disproportionate power to set and enforce norms

Shamefully, this used to be ‘ok’, but was fairly successfully stamped out & made socially unacceptable for new generations. It is not ok to wind back the clock on that. It is not ok for parties like Reform & Restore to have their hate platformed & normalised. It’s on us all, to call out & stop this.

This is a valuable contribution to the EU debate on how to manage geopolitical risks - such as weaponisation of migration. First it was Belarus, and now Ceuta. Enemies of the EU use migration as a tool to harm EU. Measures, procedures and above all solidarity between Member States is required.
OPINION: Recognizing that migration can be weaponized is not alarmism — it is realism. The EU must now equip itself with the legal and operational tools it needs to defend its external borders, writes Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

25% turnout for the Greater Manchester Mayoral Election. Nearly 3/4 of voters didn't show up for a contest, whose previous winner has just become prime minister. We shouldn't be blase about this: it raises big questions about the health of our democracy & the public appetite for the mayoral model.
