Platner could pull out and Maine Dems can replace him. But that won't do much; the Platner fanboys will then carp about the Establishment and yadda yadda, and not vote, and Collins wins anyway. The mistake was getting emotionally carried away with Platner in the first place.

I live about twenty minutes away from the Eastern States Exposition, and I guarantee that NONE of the temporary buildings look this cheap. Not one.

I read the article articles and watched the videos, but genuinely nothing prepared me for this. This is unbelievable. My perspective comes from years of working live events across the country. I’ve worked county fairs that were 1,000x better than the Great American State Fair. It’s really bad.

it's a last minute construction job in peak build season. That's a decent sized crew, all working OT, that they know will be heavily televised which means strict adherence to safety standards. You do this shit for dust control and benign safety standards. It truly could not be more basic.

This user will not allow me to reply, but the idea that inner cities EVER were bicycle-friendly is absurd. It also ignores how small city apartments can be.

And...I just got a nastygram from a Canadian professor of religion who has a "Free Palestine" thing on her profile because I dared to point out that Jeff Sharlet's recent work on hard right religion in the military was preceded by nearly 50 years by other works. 1/2

Someone on Facebook claimed that her father the English teacher gave her a copy of Shakespeare's plays when she was SEVEN and said "here is a good book, you should read it." The mere idea that kid just past Dick & Jane should read plays in what is basically another language is risible. Good Lord.
