Again... thats true but thats not whats happening in Real LifeTM, literally thousands of experts and dedicated university students are using LLMS for basic bibliography research, there are undergrad dissertations with disclaimers of their use and i found at least one master thesis doing the same.

THIS. People educated enough in the specific subject to pull the data together don’t need LLMs; people without the knowledge to weed data from the bullshit are at the mercy of the LLM. They’re obsequious Dunning-Kruger machines. Designed to flatter midwits and the technologically obsolete.

Regarding AI, although not without the proper caution, people should start looking whats happening in math, you can start looking about what Terrence Tao is doing with it.

This would apply to anybody that is not an expert on a given field regardless of use of AI but moreover, AI is being used this way by experts of a field just because it yields better search results. If you hate all uses of AI I won't blame you but these kinds of arguments are simply unsustainable.

So, ok, a thing about telling yr audience "i use AI for my info gathering/research but then I look over it and fix any errors" is that you unfortunately told me youve outsourced your knowledge base on this subject to the machine, and therefore I have no reason to believe you CAN catch those errors
