Got made redundant from my job this week. Choosing to be positive, and taking a lot of good feelings from my team and coworkers being absolutely crushed to lose me (many cried, I was stunned). Also it turns out one can accumulate a lot of coffee cups in an office kitchen.

Me: “I haven’t had a haircut in four months or more, maybe I’ll just let my hair and beard keep growing until whenever, who cares, it’s all a mess anyway” Me, the moment I get my hair cut: “Oh, right.”
Everyone’s talking about Ryan Gosling, is now the time to talk about Breaker High AKA what if the love boat was a high school
There is a little 7-year-old kid at the barber shop on this Sunday morning, running around sweeping up the cuttings and telling off the barbers when they step in the way of his broom. “Sorry, little boss, my bad, I didn’t mean to fuck up your work” and he’s like “don’t do it again, I’m telling you.”
Date: What do you do? Me: I'm a kleptozoologist Date: Isn't it cryptozoologist? Me, stuffing my pockets with lobsters from the tank: that's a common misconception
Ever remember a thing you memory-holed from your teen years? I just remembered the several months in grade 11 where a 2nd hand CD place opened near school & I would bring in 5-7 CDs to get enough cash to walk across the street & buy like, a Beast Wars toy to make myself happy & tell no one about it.
Whenever our DND party tried to bluff our way past a guard and crashed and burned, this one inevitably came out.
What's a Futurama line that lives forever in your head? Mine is, "Oh, a lesson in not changing history from Mr. I'm My Own Grandpa."
Another day, another argument with myself that I don’t need a laser engraver. “You have enough esoteric hobbies!” I argue. “But you can put designs on all that stuff!” I argue back from my pile of cassettes, cameras, fountain pens, tiki mugs, records, comics & stereo parts.
You know that bit in Jaws when Chief Brody asks his little kid for a kiss and a hug “because I need it”? That was me today, and my kid immediately understood without me needing to explain. ❤️
I’ve been watching through Star Trek: Lower Decks again and the season one finale is so freaking good. It’s not just good comedy, it’s not just good trek, it’s great TV. It also has one of the gnarliest ship destructions ever shown, AND features the best day of Shax’ life.
We killed Strahd. Took two calendar years to do it. Rest in piss, you old dead bitch. He asked “Are you really doing to die for all those tiny creatures down there?” & I replied “Someone is.”. Pictured: all my homies who hate Strahd: @euchrid.bsky.social @elissablack.com @travisjj.bsky.social & Rob
I’ve been rolling so many 2s and 3s tonight, but I did fireball that fucker for 26 damage and blew his eyebrows off. He canonically used a legendary action to grow them back.

After two and a half years…. It’s Strahd-killin’ time!
@edidin.bsky.social welp, local streetwear store is selling Quitely jackets and I look forward to getting one when it goes the hell on sale.
why do people hate women so much we are very lovely
Casually blowing my kid’s mind by explaining all of the arbitrary rules of counting in French and I think it was when I jumped ahead to ninety-seven being “four-twenty-ten-seven” that he lost it. A hissed “What the fuck” was his retort.
It immediately won me back the next episode with Tom rejoining Patricia and Wyck, who have clearly had their own adventure that we never get to see but Some Shit Went Down.
I feel like I’m disappointing all of you by saying this, but the flashback episode of Widow’s Bay was my least favourite of the series so far, because there was so little humour. Like it was well acted and directed but not what I wanted from the show!

Jumpscaring some of my internet friends by pointing out that the baby they sent presents to is turning nine this week and is a whole person
I love seeing people who know each other in other movies meet in a different movie. Here, I presume Fred Ward is asking Michael Gross if there are Graboids in the Plaza Hotel in Big Business (1988). Ping @aligoodman.bsky.social & @wolter.bsky.social, I got there eventually.
Lynda Barry did not squeeze your heart and simultaneously explain the point of all art with the barest of line drawings so you could tell me that AI is "inevitable."
Sam Raimi didn't strap a Super 8 camera to a 2x4 so you could tell me that AI is "inevitable."

Went over to @euchrid.bsky.social’s place for his birthday & got to play bartender for everyone for the first time in a while (both with stuff I brought & his extremely well-stocked home bar) & got lots of compliments on the drinks I made & had great chats & am brutally hung over today. Worth it.
Old guy on the train suddenly started shouting bigoted shit at everyone, then moved on to “CLIMATE CHANGE ISN’T REAL” but as we all got off & onto the escalator to switch trains, he lost balance mid-sentence & fell backwards off the escalator, to be (mostly) caught by the people he was haranguing.
