"From Aberdeen to Lambeth, Newcastle-under-Lyme to Holborn & St Pancras, Reform contested five by-elections yesterday. They lost all five… Five contests. Five defeats. That’s eleven out of eleven lost in a fortnight. Reform are not inevitable. Have a great weekend!" via Reform Are Not Your Friends

The contrast between the utterly sycophantic coverage this week of Kemi Badenoch, whose party has a truly atrocious electoral record under her leadership, and the utterly dismissive coverage of the Greens, tells you everything you need to know about media bias in the UK

Why the Holborn and St Pancras By-Election Was a Good Result for the Green Party

The dismissive coverage of Zack Polanski’s party obscures a far bigger truth about the rise of the left in British politics

Last week South West Water were fined £8m for >200 sewage discharges in Devon & Cornwall over a 5 year period. Their mantra is “1 pollution is too many”. In the first 11 weeks of 2026, water companies had already dumped over 69,000 hours of sewage into bathing waters. ENOUGH. Public ownership now.

Photo of George Monbiot accompanying a quote from The Guardian, July 2025: "Instead of borrowing to pay for infrastructure improvement, water companies borrowed to pay for dividends. Just as the water companies dump their sewage in the rivers, they have also dumped their liabilities on the public. The country becomes their dustbin."

Being in the EU isn’t a magic solution to our problems, because it is the elected UK gov that decides domestic policy. But being back in the EU would mean more tax revenue to invest in public services, and help ease the cost-of-living crisis. #RejoinEU

It's not just the endless bill increases. It's not just that 1/3 of your bill goes to paying shareholder dividends and servicing debt. It's not just the 1/2 million sewage discharges in one year. It's the corrupt system, which rewards water bosses for failure, that people can't stand.

Exactly what “standards” are those, Robert? You collude with pornographers over property deals. You take dodgy donations. You whore for racists and christofascists for personal gain. You betray your political allies, friends and your country to sniff at power. You have no standards. You’re poison.

‘Culturally British by my standards’ is one of the most chilling phrases uttered in British politics. Entirely unsurprising to me who it’s from.
