Andrew Irvin is a writer who tells stories about the climate-shaped future we’re heading towards, using science to make those futures human and understandable.

Dear creators - please stop putting dystopian narratives into the world, because it's giving less creative people horrible ideas to weaponize. I've been unpacking the co-opting of sci-fi in my PhD., and I can tell you all, imagining how things could get worse is not helping make things better.

There's a bigger update on @metrocomiccon.bsky.social forthcoming from @comicbookyeti.com, but it was great to see @brainbeaststudios.bsky.social right when I walked in the door. Stay tuned for more collected conversation from the convention floor!

Um, excuse me, #Costco? There's no way whomever was in charge of circulating this marketing email on Halloween decorations & ski equipment isn't either virulently racist and/or deeply ignorant. Folks, wouldn't literally EVERY OTHER WAY to announce this sale be less potentially offensive, right? 🤔

Not sure why people in the United States haven't blockaded these detention centers and laid siege to demand release of detainees. The rest of the world is watching the human rights atrocities being committed, and we're not going to forget, Americans.

ICE just reported the 19th death in immigration detention. Staff at Winn Correctional Center in Louisiana found 43-year-old Mamuka Artmeladze unresponsive the night of June 4. He died less than an hour later.

It's hard to convey just how monstrous the privatisation of children's care homes has become. Highly vulnerable children have been turned into cash machines, with devastating impacts on their wellbeing. Please sit down before reading this week's column. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
