⚠️ Update from Tarrant County: The Commissioners Court tabled the vote on cutting polling places after a record number of testimonies, a morning press conference, and broad public pressure. Curriculum The vote will be taken up again on Sept. 1st, so make sure to show up again in a month!

If you are in Tarrant County, (Fort Worth)we have a problem. Tarrant County Judge Tim O’Hare and his Republican henchmen are up to their usual tricks again wanting to close down almost half of our polling sites! Still looking for the results of this morning’s 10:00 vote! bsky.app/profile/lone...

James Talarico on Texas officially banning THC: “Texans aren’t going to stop smoking weed and eating edibles because politicians in Austin say so. We are now telling full-grown adults how to live their lives. This is the nanny state at its worst; this is big government at its worst."

Cybersecurity experts reported that Iranian hackers had considered disrupting electrical service in Texas, but realized it’d just seem like any other day there.

There are over 3,000 comments on this TikTok, and most of them are talking about still having to go to work or not having to go to work if this happens. 🤣 We truly live in a dystopia.

"A concentration camp, in its most basic definition, is a place where a targeted civilian population, not necessarily accused of a crime, is detained and at least some of their basic rights are suspended," writes @jwashing.bsky.social. "That’s precisely what’s happening in the United States today."

Don’t call them ICE detention centers. Call them camps | John Washington

I’ve spent a decade reporting on immigration enforcement. The word ‘camp’ best captures the political function of these facilities
