I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. Overnight, a masked bandit broke into our kitchen. Armed with opposable thumbs, he proceeded to sample everything on offer. I’d just visited the farmers market, so the menu was extensive. I can now share a highly specific peer-reviewed list of what this particular raider did & did not enjoy. 🧵

Bought Sam-cat a six pack of spring toys yesterday. Gave her one and put the rest in the toy basket. They're all already lost forever under furniture. Is there a marshmallow test for cats?

The front porch has a metal roof, and it really enhances the Watching the Rain experience.

They were turning away so many people at the end. I hope this gets their org more resources. It's a great mission.

Adopted six seedlings today (3 penstemon strictis and 3 little bluestem). Here's hoping I can keep them alive until early fall when I can plant them.

The people who respond to every water conservation post with vowing to never cut back on watering their lawns baffle me. Aren't you embarrassed? We're in a high desert in the middle of a drought.

2/ Median 5.7 kgCO2e/day, against 2.9 for rural women aged 35-54 with low education. Roughly double in a group with more resources, choice, and agency. Healthier diets are consistently lighter ones: each 5% rise in diet quality tracks 7.7% lower emissions, 7.2% less land, 4.4% less water.

We went to visit an aural art exhibit. It was very underwhelming. A whole block of the sound of flushing and gurgling toilets.

The Denver school registration process is so much better than the Austin process. It's mostly the same paperwork, but in Denver it's all on one screen and in Austin it's 20 separate PDF forms.

NEW: Aurora Police say an ICE detention center employee shot a protester last night. She is expected to survive. 42-year-old Brandon Booth, who works for the ICE contractor GEO Group, is being held on suspicion of attempted second degree murder and other charges.

If you’re a healthy adult, cyclospora isn’t fun but it’s unlikely to hurt you. The people who need to take precautions are thone who are at extra risk from the dehydration and immune stress of prolonged severe diarrhea - especially if they're also allergic to sulfa drugs, the first-line treatment.

Really hopeful about the job I just interviewed for. They're hiring multiple people, and it's frankly not a job that really experienced people would want. 🤞

The heat/air conditioning at this place must be in rough shape if "ability to work in a small space with fluctuating temperatures" makes it into your job description. They're either extremely honest or at least one person has quit because of this.
