Before you get snobbish about e-readers, remember that they allow large text for those with sight disabilities, alternate fonts for those with dyslexia, and can be laid down flat for those lacking mobility in their hands. That last point is especially helpful for me right now. Go e-readers!
Jesus, Ezra. That isn't what happened at all. Rufo did not "try to figure out if" it's true." He gleefully amplified the lie, then offered a bounty to anyone who could retroactively "prove" it. It spurred death threats. Thousands will soon be deported because of it. Many of them will die.
OTD in 1979, THE MUPPET MOVIE opened in theaters across the United States. Jim Henson noted (with typical understatement) that its reception was "Great!" and it was one of the most profitable films of the decade. But getting the Muppets to the big screen in the first place was hard work.
My dad is dead. He died some years ago from COPD after a lifetime of smoking. He was the best dad I ever had.

I just received the terribly distressing news that Gordon Wood was hit by a car and killed yesterday. We were together with other Founding era scholars at the 2nd Judicial Circuit conference last week at Lake George, and he was as usual in fine fettle and as always enjoyable to talk to.
I’m so sick of this bullshit where a bunch of extraordinarily privileged folks from some of the world‘s richest universities, most of whom have never set foot in a state University or community college, arrogate to themselves the right to diagnose what ails academia. Fuck all of them. Seriously.
