And renewing my offer -- any college class in Texas that wants to discuss the book, I'll happily Zoom in for the chat.

I feel like I’ve said it 1,000 times but the best way to make sure no trans girls or women ever get to participate in women’s sports is to simply not have women’s sports, problem solved. This is always where this was headed within sports.
You can see the very obvious throughline from “men could transition and easily dominate women’s sports” to “women’s sports are lesser and shouldn’t be taken seriously” to “women shouldn’t play sports” to “here are the acceptable life choices for women”

holy shit that’s a lot of mediocrity in one picture
Who could have seen this coming other than everyone?
Three years ago, we welcomed the US Women's National Team to Beyer Stadium for an exhibtion and now they're returning regularly for the Women's Baseball World Cup. Amazing things happen when you #StepUptotheSport!
Not telling him he's an idiot is an example of why we're in the mess we're in in this country. Mediocre white guys giving stupid takes and no one shutting them down. A lot of people follow these guys. He has been telling us who he is for quite some. It's not cute or funny.
I'm more mad about this than I should be
NEW: ICE is collecting unprecedented quantities of DNA from detainees, including children. Those samples sit, indefinitely, in an FBI database built for criminal investigations. "People are very confused about why their DNA is being tested. I do not think they’re being told what the purpose is."
ICE Collected Nearly 1 Million People’s DNA Last Year—Including Young Children
Internal documents show ICE's DNA collection has skyrocketed in the second Trump administration. Now hundreds of thousands of people never convicted of a crime are in an FBI criminal database forever.

Skip the first three paragraphs of this story. Maybelle was never a Peach. I'm glad they sent the State House reporter over to cover the game because it's nearby/they aren't going to have a women's baseball beat reporter. I hope she goes to more games. chicago.suntimes.com/sports/2026/...

July reads! The Second City book was okay. The history of the founding was interesting, but the rest was mostly descriptions of skits. The Born Frees was fantastic. Got that signed at a book fest when the book came out.

This right here. I am newer to women's baseball starting to follow only in the last few years. But I'm all in. It's so much fun and they have some really great players. The games are on ESPN select the rest of the season. Check it out! Everyone watches women's sports.
I have covered a Super Bowl, Stanley Cup Game 7, numerous NCAA postseasons, and the only thing that comes close to the feeling I got at the WPBL opener tonight was when the Valkyries clinched the playoffs. Women's sports history is so cool.
Taking out the AI of it all, this. A million times this. It's okay to remove a book from a collection if no one has read in years. It really is. Libraries need to make space for the new stuff that people really want.
Only a teensy tiny fraction of books are truly rare, unique, or scarce. But the idea that people destroy the 1,921st copy of a book no one is interested in always freaks people out. They are appalled that libraries weed books, too.

Waited in line for an hour to get in. Women's professional baseball is back! So glad Maybelle was able to be here. See my pic of her talking with Team USA catcher Denea Benites. Everyone watches women's sports.
