coming back from open sauce; “retro futuristic amber CRT” aesthetics seem to be the em dash of vibe coded UI
my brother & his partner are telling me an insane story about this local deity called "st. rat" which is apparently a mosaic relief put up by some queers in seattle. the city kept trying to paint over it, but people would repeatedly just use acetone and remove the paint until the city gave up
Babe wake up, new industrial band five-album discography just dropped

me trying to explain “Mittelstand” to a coworker: “i have no idea how to translate or explain this. it’s a vibe. just read the wiki article. the wiki article: “The term is difficult to translate and may cause confusion for non-Germans.” >.>
Neat! Yeah I originally wanted to build a PoE version that can just wholesale live in a little outdoor enclosure but getting the antenna signal through my window is actually much easier than a full-blown Ethernet connection
Here's how the "PTP GM on a stick" project looks like right now. Have had this sitting around for months now, really need to push it to a fab some time.
wow this skeet did not age well see you on the dance floor ig?
apparently i have two types of friends in tech now: friends staying at home this and next weekend to grind on personal projects before the end of an era, and friends who have never touched Claude. both don’t seem like fun :/
AWS, Azure and Google Cloud built customer-facing carbon footprint dashboards not because any law required it (it still doesn't) but bc enough large customers asked about the carbon intensity of their service. so why don't you ask that question on Slack next time your company holds an "AI week"? ;)
if you find yourself in this category; i highly recommend github.com/gwittebolle/... the CO2 footprint is about what you'd expected (not great; not terrible. about one domestic flight / year). what's interesting is keeping track of token cost and being reminded the plans are 10x substituted

this feeling isn’t new; before Fable it was obvious frontier models being affordable to hobbyists were running on borrowed time. only now there is an actual date for that

one of my favorite cheeky papers, from 1999, is this one where the authors argue that sometimes it is better to simply wait and do nothing, because your astrophysical simulations will complete faster if you simply wait for the next epoch of compute arxiv.org/pdf/astro-ph...

THREAD 🧵 El Nino has returned, raising the likelihood of more extreme weather worldwide. From record heat and floods to droughts, wildfires and economic disruption, here is what scientists say the climate pattern could mean for the months ahead. #Infograph
they should invent a dedicated device for soggy takeout burger like they invented the panini press for 5am dürüm kebab
it feels impossible to have conversations about tech anymore that feel inspiring or get me excited because almost everyone who has insight is either just as jaded as i am or extremely annoying
i was convinced it's AI after watching the water in the tub defy the physics of fluid dynamics but if there was any doubt, i agree the ice cubes bowl one is painfully obvious fake.. i knew it was too round to be true! ffs not even otters are safe now >.>
