winning my child of the year award by driving halfway across the cities in rush hour traffic to go to my mom's birthday party, expending every social battery I have to be interesting to old people, and then booking it back across town to hockie (all this the night before gen con)

feeling quite chuffed today got a s/o during team retro from my manager bc I contributed to an external repo owned by one of the higher level individual contributors in our org, and the IC was v impressed with my work ready to ollie out at the end of the day on a high note for GEN CON!!

anybody else have the thing when your subconscious sends you one of those fuzzy warm, feel good yet simultaneously confusing dreams where you just want to fall back asleep but then it also got you contemplating way too much, so you partially go back into the dream to figure shit out

hehehehe *playing more board games with friends* I also convinced brian and nic to play fate of the fellowship with me and it's so much harder yet dynamic in co-op. I'm spreading this game to as many people who say yes to playing it with me >:)

guys my new overlords took away our annual bonus (I only got it for one year from the last acquisition anyway 💀) but they give us a smaller "experience bonus" that we're supposed to use for like, travel, events, or concerts now accepting your best/worst ideas for what qualifies as "an experience":

the state of AI in tech these days means I'm forced to read my coworker's overly complex AI generated slop, which I KNOW for a fact he doesn't get how it works but it's either my job to try and spend time to understand it in code review, or else just hit the lgtm and move on with my fucking day

my other gym closes on sundays so I had to go to the other close one. and what the hell is wrong with people here dog there's a lady barking (like actually yipping) on the stairmaster and a guy on a face time call in the middle of the gym yelling on at the top of his lungs

Yesterday ICE agents shot and killed Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, a father, husband, and beloved neighbor who spent 35 years building a life in the U.S. Our hearts are heavy with grief for his family and all those suffering at the hands of ICE, CBP, and this administration's unrelenting cruelty.

Graphic with text that says, "Lorenzo Salgado Araujo should not only still be alive - he should be enjoying the beauty of the life he built." With a quote from Ronaldo Salgado that says, "My father was a private man, a man who dedicated his life to work. He worked the last 30 years of his life building homes in the Houston suburbs. Part of his dream was to build a house for himself and his family, just like the hundreds he had built for himself over his career... He achieved it and after it was built and up until the last weekend, you can find him every evening after work, resting on his porch, listening to music, petting his dog. That's how I want the world to know my father. Not as someone who got shot and killed, but as a family man, a man who understood that good things come to those who put in hard work. I am deeply heartbroken to see that the man who taught me the value of hard work, family values, and education will no longer spend an evening on that porch."

my brother & his partner are telling me an insane story about this local deity called "st. rat" which is apparently a mosaic relief put up by some queers in seattle. the city kept trying to paint over it, but people would repeatedly just use acetone and remove the paint until the city gave up

a mosaic relief to st. rat

s/o to MSP metro transit for doing such a good job with bus coverage during the light rail maintenance. I was not aware of it when I went to catch the train today, but the signage + bus service was just as good as the train. public transit saves me so much money and it's so convenient when I need it
