This is something I try to balance in my life a lot. And yes, I say that as someone who just gave 8 weeks of her life to an auction focused specifically on voting rights. That is one part of my task. At the start of the year it was whistles. Those are big things, but can't be my only things.

I’m seeing a lot of people hang their hopes and all their attention on the midterms. Electoral organizing matters, but full-time spectatorship won’t build the power we need. I wrote about checking in with yourself about where your attention is going and what you’re doing with it.

If you're sighted and posting about "legally blind" people, and don't bother including alt text I do actually question why you're talking about them at all tbh. I'm glad you're hyped for them but do you realise they can't engage with your post? 🫩

Thrilled to announce that we’re moving to Zagreb, Croatia for MalkieriCon 2027. Now let me share why you should be mega excited. It starts with #WheelOfTime filming locations! Some of our favourite Two Rivers scenes in S1 were shot in Croatia & Slovenia, (did someone say road trips?)

MalkieriCon@malkiericon.bsky.social · 2w ago

It is finally time to reveal the location for MalkieriCon 2027!! Please join us 3rd - 5th September, 2027 in ZAGREB, CROATIA!! Tickets will be available for purchase soon!! #MalkieriCon #TheWheelOfTime #Croatia

A view of the city of Zagreb, Croatia. Terecotta coloured rooftops in beautiful european style, spread throughout beautiful green spaces sets the background. At the top reads text 'Join us in 2027 as MalkieriCon hits the road'. At the bottom reads the text 'Our first stop Zagreb, Croatia' and the MalkieriCon crane sits in a pale green circle with the words 'MalkieriCon 2027' circling around it.

LLMs don't need to be as terrible for the environment as they are. They didn't need to be packaged as chatbots, designed to be addictive, and rolled out with no safety protocols. They didn't need to be marketed as a replacement for human labour. These were all choices made by their American owners.

You might have heard us say that FCC Chairman Brendan Carr is a dummy. We even made a little GIF to demonstrate his recent failure to enforce a foreign drone ban. So what's the deal with this guy, anyway? We've been covering Carr's exploits for a while now, so let us walk you through it: 🧵

The Verge@theverge.com · 4w ago

In December, the US government banned foreign consumer drones, claiming that the devices posed a threat to national security. But instead of creating new US consumer drone companies, the ban is incentivizing fake ones instead. Read more from @seanhollister.bsky.social: buff.ly/3jnK87k

Important reminder: "The ADA was never handed down from above. It was built by people who refused to accept that inaccessibility was simply how the world had to work, and who kept building even when the wins were incremental and the setbacks were real."

Thirty-Six Years Later: The ADA at a Crossroads - Dennis Deacon

The ADA turns 36 amid quiet enforcement erosion. A look at the threats facing disability rights today, and why persistence still wins.

The "just use Linux" people need to put their money where their mouth is and come set it up for me, including getting the Windows-only applications I use for my job to function. If you cannot do that, I don't actually want to hear shit from you.

The way to understand this is to view it the way those in power do: Accessibility is something that can be automated away, just like every other concern. The fact that this is in opposition to reality is immaterial, as are the human-facing consequences. aftermath.site/xbox-layoffs...

Layoffs Leave The Future Of Xbox’s Award-Winning Accessibility Efforts In Doubt

Former workers say Xbox cuts leave less resources and experts to make sure games are developed, labelled, and tested with accessibility in mind
