For more than a decade, Stephen Colbert has been one of the top voices of late night—making us laugh and, even more importantly, reminding us who we are and what America stands for. Michelle and I enjoyed being Stephen’s guests—even when the games were rigged—and we’re grateful to call him a friend.

Inflation is at a three-year high. Everything costs more — groceries, gas, healthcare, a plane ticket. The math is simple. Every American dollar spent overseas on war is a dollar that could’ve been spent here at home to pay for a dignified life. It's time we change the equation.

Fox Host: Not great news today when it comes to inflation. Up at 3.8%, so far a 40% spike in terms of grocery prices. Those numbers are up. Certainly not good news Mike Johnson: Not good news. We are keenly aware of it

My home state, Negeri Sembilan, is going through a kerfuffle: our monarch just got sacked! Unlikely to stick; dude's got a lot of real power. But it is technically possible because we are an elective monarchy, by tradition- and tradition means something, still. www.malaysiakini.com/news/773066 1/

Royal rumble: N Sembilan chieftains 'sack' ruler in tit-for-tat

Outcome likely to be determined by how a royal council interprets the state constitution.

I understand why chatbot cheating happens but every time I read about it I want to gently remind everyone that the point of schoolwork is not for the submission to exist. Teachers are not just greedy for more essays or solved equations. The point is to do the work WITH YOUR OWN BRAIN, FOR LEARNING.

More than half of teenagers in the U.S. use A.I. tools for help with their schoolwork, according to a new study from the Pew Research Center. The results, the report said, indicate that teenagers think “cheating with A.I. has become a regular feature of student life.”

A good reference is Nixon’s “War on Drugs”. War is the wrong metaphor, IMHO. Understanding a problem and strategising how the treatment benefits majority of people should be the way to go. But some days I feel talking about logic & empathy is just shouting into the abyss. 😔

RFK Jr. has talked about a war on sugar and a war on protein, a war on peptides and a war on vitamins. Benjamin Mazer writes about what happens when the “warrior ethos” comes to public health: theatln.tc/eWWttupM

When Trump purged the civil service, he did away with some of the employees who understood the government best: “What’s been lost isn’t just a sense of purpose,” Franklin Foer argues, “but a body of knowledge—a way of making the machinery of the state function.” theatln.tc/4DdD6aFE

Nayra Guzmán was 15 days post C-section — going to see her baby in the NICU — when she was taken to Broadview and held in custody for about 34 hours. She slept on a bench and barely got food. She couldn't pump. Her story is a rare window into the growing detention of pregnant & postpartum people.

Her baby was in the NICU. She was in ICE detention.

Before Trump took office, postpartum immigrants were rarely detained by ICE. Nayra Guzmán was detained while her 15-day-old baby was in the NICU.
