The world of computing is and will remain far larger, more impactful, and far more vibrant than the narrow subdomain of genAI.

So many thoughts when dealing with all the AI tools and thinking about how it affects the industry, young people trying to get into the industry, climate, how billionaires are affecting indirectly, and then you need a quick script or code change and it spits it out in 10 seconds...

If you are not occasionally overwhelmed by what is going on with AI, you are either: 1) Not paying attention. 2) Not understanding what you are seeing. 3) Made of much sturdier stuff than I.

Bear with me if you can as I attempt to use HPV vaccines to demonstrate why many can’t see the danger of RFK Jr. TLDR: Disease prevention takes time and discipline. Not discipline of an individual, but the ability to invest in public health when the benefits may not be immediately clear.

I find it disappointing that the coding agents will put off harder tasks to work on simpler ones. That makes perfect sense for a person learning how it works and limits risk. For a coding agent with the memory of a goldfish, it doesn't really do any good.

I keep saying this but no one is connecting the dots. The war is to satisfy legal preconditions for mass removal *domestically* of Latinos (i.e., suddenly a lot of people are going to be “Venezuelan” for purposes of removal). This is 100% Stephen Miller…oil claim is to make grandpa go along

There is no national security logic that would impel the US to want to do regime change in Venezuela. It's simply not that important. I'm not even sure wag the dog is the right metaphor for what's happening here. Seems like an insane misallocation of US national security assets and attention.

📣THREAD: It’s surprising to me that so many people were surprised to learn that Signal runs partly on AWS (something we can do because we use encryption to make sure no one but you–not AWS, not Signal, not anyone–can access your comms). It’s also concerning. 1/

PSA: we're aware that Signal is down for some people. This appears to be related to a major AWS outage. Stand by.

White people who have spent decades thinking “Born in the USA” is patriotic and “Every Breath You Take” is a great wedding song are suddenly very concerned about not being able to understand lyrics to some songs at the Super Bowl halftime show.

Seems a little crazy that all of these AI chip and datacenter deals are being sized by the power they consume. While the transparency is interesting, it feels like "I'm going to use 6 billion watts to allow people to create fake videos" is a little too direct for people to get behind these things.

It seems like for a lot of people who call themselves Christians online, the things that they pejoratively label as “progressive” or “woke” are simply anything that looks like the love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, & self-control of Jesus.
