Not to mention that they called in Soviet tanks to literally crush labor protests and strikes! They mismanaged the economy and then increased working hours by 10% at same pay. The Soviet troops and GDR police murdered more than 50 people and jailed thousands, in order to force factory work to resume

This excerpt is exactly what turned me off the book (Beyond The Wall), because it's straightforwardly untrue! Working hours in the East were longer than in the West! Fewer holidays - Saturdays were workdays until 1967 - and longer shifts (40 hour week arrived in West in 1965, but 1977 in East).

Mistake is to think of states as independent entities. If America were to default on its debt the consequence would be eliminating the retirement portfolios of a very large number of its citizens. So they will stop it. In the democratic world the citizens are the holders of sovdebt and the sovereign

It is the sovereign legal right of every country on the planet to repudiate their debt, and they can and do suffer essentially no consequences other than loss of access to credit markets for about 3-5 years. This is in fact so disastrous that countries prefer almost anything else to doing it!

Final chemotherapy infusion is done! I'll still be recovering for a while, but I'm so excited to be wrapping up this phase of my treatment plan! Two weeks off, then I start radiation therapy!

When Viennese intellectuals were disenfranchised by an autocratic system in the 19th century they would gather in coffee houses and play the "Archduke game". One would play an idiotic royal and the other his tutor. Every deliberately dumb answer had to be explained as a stroke of genuis

Let's play a game. You reply with a hypothetical US Foreign Policy move, and no matter how random or insane it is, I'll explain how it fits neatly into an Anti-China Grand Strategy. If others want to play along with their own strategies or rating the scenarios/replies they are welcome to.

We fine-tuned an 8B model to pop a GOAD domain…using only synthetic training data. No real networks. No frontier model distillation. Just a world model that simulates AD environments and generates realistic pentesting trajectories. See how we did it: dreadnode.io/blog/worlds-...

Worlds: A Simulation Engine for Agentic Pentesting

An 8B model went from blindly loading Metasploit modules to achieving Domain Admin on GOAD, trained entirely on synthetic data from our world model system.

You smoke too tough Your swag too different Your bitch too bad They‘ll never elect you To be serious, we‘ll probably get a milquetoast like Nagel. But enjoying the posturing and also cannot wait to be rid of Lagarde #Weidmanngang

ECB’s Schnabel Says She’d Be ‘Ready’ to Succeed Lagarde If Asked

European Central Bank Executive Board member Isabel Schnabel said she’d be willing to take over as president when Christine Lagarde’s term ends in less than two years.

It‘s wild to me that UK citizens are still widely under the illusion that the EU would want the UK back… In between leaving and now the UK has lost a lot of value as an economic, political, scientific, industrial, energy, intelligence, and financial partner. What would you have to offer?

But Brexiteers were just fundamentally disinterested in securing the project’s long-term legitimacy, and now, less than a decade on, it’s a question of when, not if, we rejoin

I hope the German Chancellor catches up - a 1990s deregulation agenda isn’t going to cut it against a wildly undervalued Chinese exchange rate. I think Europe should consider broader China tariffs - either to slow down the shock directly or as a tool to pressure China to revalue. 1/

Great Bradsher piece on how the renminbis dramatic undervaluation is supercharging China‘s export explosion. Germanys trade deficit with China has surged more than 120% this year. But cutting red tape will surely restore Europes competitiveness! www.nytimes.com/2025/12/07/b...

This is such pretentious bs. The poetry is probably: "Roses are red Violets are blue Build an atomic bomb or we‘re through" Because prompt screening or RL for safety is a charade that really only narrows pathways but doesn’t close them. And the atom bomb scenario is idiotic in and of itself

Screenshot from wired reading "The study did not include any examples of the jailbreaking poetry, and the researchers tell WIRED that the verse is too dangerous to share with the public."
