Not many social media comments have stuck with me, thankfully. One that did was "Please read books." At the time I thought there should be caveats, but not anymore. Interesting to see a line drawn from Socrates to Postman in this article. www.theatlantic.com/magazine/202...

On August 3, Michigan reported two deaths associated with its cyclosporiasis outbreak. The state didn't say how either person died, how old they were, or what conditions they had. It did say both had "significant underlying health conditions." That was almost the only detail. 🧵

My theory: survival stories and true crime are actually photo negatives of each other, because in true crime, someone's dead who should be alive, and in survival, someone's alive who should be dead, and in both cases you're trying to figure out why
