got Gleam/Lustre into a VST/AU plugin :O by making js ffi bindings for the JUCE's JS API interface. i'm thinking i miiiiiight just go with this for building out the Kitty/GBA VST plugin. i'd definitely get from my figma mockups to there much faster lol

VST3 dialog window over a tracker DAW with the title "WebViewPluginDemo". the window shows a "hello from lustre!" heading, a "mute" checkbox, a "filter type" dropdown showing "low-pass" selected, and a "cutoff frequency" slider set to 809 Hz

as someone who occasionally finds ASMR helpful for sleep struggle (screw the stigma, we've always been open about this w friends), and though i don't think any of the channels we listen to have been affected (emphasis: yet), this is extremely disappointing.

a bunch of popular ASMR artists lost their channels forever this week, after YouTube cited them for violating terms against "sexually gratifying" content: www.404media.co/youtube-asmr...

did a quick cursory check on the state of FP/ADT in PHP… 8.0 - union types 8.1 - enums, intersection types, first class callables 8.2 - DNF 8.5 - pipeline operator |> still RFC: - tagged unions - pattern matching - there is an overaching RFC for ADT libraries: - crell/fp

it feels weird to call myself a chiptune artist. i've made dozens of famitracker covers, but barely made any original NES stuff. i've messed with SNES music since the early 2000s. i incorporate chiptune instruments into my music all the time. i write music for GBA that incorporates PSG channels,

so far i made a very type safe midi file writer / parser in gleam (i still need to figure out a good boundary between enforcing File format correctness, or standards compliance (e.g., whether we accept well formed meta events, but say the tempo meta has 4 bytes instead of 3, or the EOT has data),

should i write a mahjong engine in gleam? i did one on observable (JS) many many years ago tho i did not complete it. i learned a lot of interesting things thru it tho. i think doing it as FP lang practice (and something i could potentially use for a server) could be neat

what surprised me is that i was sure if i was gonna get into BEAM it would be thru Elixir given our Ruby background.. but i have done a lot more in Gleam so far. it is very addictive, its type system is fun, and i didn't think this was the way i would come back to full stack web dev after many years

having Discord as like the single normalised way of active community converation is frustrating bc it is also where topical things just go to die if you're late to the convo, or in another time zone i think i just miss forums being more normalised as a space that exists alongside community chat

people's memories of the early 2000s are very different to mine. i grew up in nearly rural western sydney. things weren't necessarily better or worse, you can't compare such different experiences on a linear single property.

FluxCaster build thread! It's a self contained Bluetooth cassette adapter specifically for loading games on to older systems. It's got a Schmitt trigger onboard to tidy up incoming data, will pause automatically for the C64 and has some other bells and whistles. 🤓

gen ai talk is tiring. don't get me wrong we have a ton of rants about it and more to be had. they're usually better left for verbal conversation than in writing though bc it consumes so much of our time and energy and almost always don't end up posting it anyway. ✨
