Michael Clarke: Last night, Ukraine attacked a Wildberries warehouse in Tula region. This was 14th of 15 biggest Wildberries warehouses. Wildberries now suffered attacks, destruction, or damage to 60% of its warehousing capacity. It's cost them $3 billion worth of stock so far.
Russia used cluster munitions against densely populated areas of Kyiv. The pattern of these attacks points to an effort to destroy not only lives, but also Ukrainian culture, identity, and the ability of Ukrainians to live freely in their own country.
If Putin still denies Ukraine even exists, why are we still afraid to call this what it is? More than four years, civilians are being killed in growing numbers, so at what point do we stop searching for softer words? It’s genocide. My latest piece. 👇 open.substack.com/pub/shaunpin...
Worse yet, amplifying what is “new” when civilian casualties occur, or are alleged to have occurred, in russia often comes at the cost of obscuring the reality of who invaded whom
Apparently, when russia fires ballistic missiles at a European capital, nobody quite does the attacking But when moscow makes a claim about 🇺🇦, the headline instantly finds an active verb, a culprit, and 7 bodies. To call this both-sidism would be a compliment 😵💫 Screenshot of my BBC podcast feed

It pays to watch Russia for warnings of fatigue or discontent. Our cover this week features the most stunning such warning so far. A leading oligarch speaks out, warning of the looming disaster facing his country bit.ly/4eTHOoB

Ouch! "Mr Luxon clearly thinks highly of his own performance in politics and businesses. His rise in the former was meteoric while he progressed more steadily during his 18 years at Unilever and eight at Air New Zealand. Yet his own self-belief may not align exactly with known facts."

The haggling over lines on a map is self-deception on the side of Ukraine's allies. The question is not where the border ultimately runs. The question is whether naked violence works and whether the Transatlantic deterrence posture is backed by capability and credibility. 24/28
