Odd-ball question to the #SherlockHolmes world: Is there anyone else who wonders why Sidney Paget put a face on the rock in this art? [That face is the inspiration for a #Gothic story I'm #writing and looking at it so often is making me feel a little weird.]

I read, mostly from the long 19th century. I write, mostly Victorian Gothic & Sherlock Holmes. https://belangerbooks.com #DotingOnDoyle at margiedeck.blogspot.com.
Many thanks again to @baronvonbork.bsky.social for this book. It has helped me before and was invaluable again tonight. If you don’t have it, you might want to get a copy. #writing #Gothic #SherlockHolmes #reading #ArthurConanDoyle
This story idea is going to require some serious research. Here’s the first round of research materials. On we go… #writing #reading #Gothic #SherlockHolmes #ArthurConanDoyle
Some things never change. I find it impossible to paint JUST ONE damn wall. *sigh* It is going to be at least two. Might as well get on with it...

On Sunday, I finished my darkest tale yet. Word today from my long-term ideal test reader: "This is your best story ever...A real page-turner, full of suspense. It’s like a Hitchcock movie. ... like reading something by Robert Bloch."😮 I'm so grateful. On we go... #writing #Gothic #InTheDimLight
Sometimes the internet just doesn’t understand working out the options on foot 125 years ago…so, old school it is. With a little help from another #Sherlockian who did all the sorting and map building. Feeling lucky. #writing #sherlockholmes adjacent #gothic
Doing some serious reading this afternoon. I'm not goofing off. I really do need a reminder of these events. I'm not complaining because it is always a fun read. #writing #sherlockholmes adjacent #gothic #reading #ArthurConanDoyle
After weeks away & 1 week getting caught up , it feels great to start writing a #Gothic collection. Not #SherlockHolmes but will be inspired by him. Every lead character will be someone Holmes has affected. For example, the first was Neville St. Clair from TWIS. Book #6 is underway....

It is so loud in this airport terminal my earbuds couldn’t over come it. I turned off the music and now have industrial ear plugs in use. Still too loud. In addition to all the competing announcements, the slot machines are very loud, and the next guy over is an hour into his phone call on speaker.

#Sherlockian Geoff Jeffrey hired a Brit bookbinder. Look at the leather bound copy of classic soft bound work from Julie McKuras Ray Riethmeier Tim Johnson @philbergem.bsky.social. Also, he had custom cases made for his ARC copies of all 3 of Leslie S Klinger's annotated volumes in paperback.
It was 10,000 in the end. I think the readers will like it. On to the next & last story in this collection. I've promised myself I'll finish this manuscript by next Wednesday morning. I've got about 10,000 more words to go. #writing #sherlockholmes #gothic #ArthurConanDoyle
Well, this is an 8,000 word story. #writing #SherlockHolmes pastiche is complicated by my love of #gothic. The story must be atmospheric but still fair to the mystery reader. Sometimes that takes a few words. My readers (thankfully) seem to be patient with such story telling.

I was fortunate to read an ARC awhile ago--the lead character is very interesting, and the noir is just fun. Check it out...

Many thanks to @bradkeefauver.bsky.social for the fun, surprise gift in the mail— The new #Sherlockian Chronologist Guild handbook. What a treat! 💜
I’m apparently very inspired and intrigued by this book. This one ended up with the most ‘thinking flags’ I’ve put in a new-to-me book in quite some time. #reading 💪💪
Bravo @studyinimagination.bsky.social—You always have something interesting to say. I wish you all the luck.
So, I... thought I'd try something. I'm nervous now that I'm committing to it. But... I really want to talk about LotR and Sherlock Holmes in general (not just Moriarty in particular) and other fandom topics... #TolkienTuesday #LotR #SherlockHolmes www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmon...
Another social media account deleted. Down to 2. Some fuss at me, saying "How do you expect to sell your books if you don't write content for followers?" Idk, but I'm not interested in writing "content." I love my SH folks and a few of them like what I write. I suppose it will work out, enough.

Check out the Spring issue of @sherlockholmesmag.co.uk - highlighted by a short Sherlock story by our friend @margiedeck.bsky.social - The Problem Of The Dreaming Man - Great job again Margie! Note: this Blue Sky account is not affiliated with nor profits from the magazine or Margie.
I've spent an entire week writing and rewriting the same seven introductory paragraphs over and over. I think I'm *finally* ready to go forward with this work. #writing (and rewriting) #reading (aloud, dozens of times) #sherlockholmes (he hasn't even turned up yet) #gothic (the tone is now right)
